Vienna Waltz: Pink Tutu Adventures in the City of Music! (Post #1052)

Hello, my darling Tutu Tribe! It's Emma here, and guess what? I'm in Vienna! I know, I know! The City of Music! My heart is doing a pirouette just thinking about the waltzes and Strauss, and of course, the beautiful Imperial history. But before I get swept away by Viennese enchantment, let's rewind a little.

Last week, you might remember, I was in Paris! Oh la la, I even managed to squeeze in a performance at the Moulin Rouge. And yes, I was wearing my favourite blush pink tulle tutu, naturally! I have a policy ā€“ pink tutus for every occasion!

Anyway, back to Vienna. This incredible journey began in a most glamorous way. The train from Paris to Vienna is the stuff of dreams! Picture plush carriages, windows framing picturesque landscapes, and even a waiter serving me the most delicious raspberry sorbet. It was like being whisked away in a fairytale!

Then, oh my goodness, arriving at Viennaā€™s Hauptbahnhof station was an absolute joyride! It felt like stepping into a film set from ā€œThe Sound of Musicā€ with its grandeur and old-world charm. And then, the horse-drawn carriage! Yes, Iā€™m not kidding! You havenā€™t lived until youā€™ve been whisked through Vienna in a horse-drawn carriage, pink tutu swirling in the wind of course!

Now, before I delve into the wonders of Viennese ballet, letā€™s talk about the shopping, darling! You know I canā€™t resist a good frock, and Viennaā€™s streets are simply a dream come true. I found the most gorgeous vintage silk scarf at a tiny boutique on KƤrntner Strasse - itā€™s a soft, dusty rose shade with delicate black polka dots! The owner even helped me match it to a pair of cherry blossom pink ballet flats ā€“ canā€™t wait to rock this combo in the evening!

My apartment is so darling! Itā€™s nestled in a tranquil street in the heart of the city. The walls are painted a soft powder blue, and the floors are beautiful oak, perfect for pirouettes. Plus, there's a little balcony overlooking a garden where I can sip my morning coffee ā€“ itā€™s so peaceful. I can just picture myself in a dreamy pink tutu outfit, swirling around my apartment and pretending to be in a scene from Swan Lake.

Now, for the highlight of this week ā€“ The Vienna State Opera! I'm in absolute heaven! Every night, the city pulses with a captivating symphony of music, and there are ballet performances almost every evening. My first night was a dream come true. It was a performance of ā€œLa BayadĆØreā€ by the Vienna State Ballet, a must-see for any ballet enthusiast! The costumes, the choreography, and the raw emotionā€¦ it was absolutely breathtaking.

Speaking of the ballet, I just had to see the exquisite costumes, so I ventured into the Vienna State Opera House itself! Itā€™s even more dazzling in person, with grand architecture and glittering chandeliers, truly an ode to the arts. Youā€™d think they plucked the chandelier straight from a fairytale! They also have a wonderful ballet library with old tutus and ballet memorabilia from centuries ago. Imagine my delight ā€“ pink tutus as far as the eye can see! I actually took quite a few photos for inspiration ā€“ watch this space, I'm planning some super special DIY tutu projects.

But of course, itā€™s not all tutus and ballets in Vienna. On my wanderings, I've stumbled across charming cafes with little pastries piled high ā€“ the best Apfelstrudel ever! Viennaā€™s history oozes at every corner, from magnificent palaces like the Schƶnbrunn Palace to the imposing Belvedere Palace. I spent the day exploring the Schƶnbrunn Gardens, feeling as if I had stepped back in time!

Of course, my days aren't only filled with dancing and coffee. Vienna has this magical allure, a captivating blend of history, art, and music that resonates deeply. On Saturday, I explored the world-renowned Kunsthistorisches Museum, with its magnificent art collections. My favourite exhibit was undoubtedly the Imperial Treasury ā€“ gold, diamonds, precious jewels ā€“ oh, my! And how I adore that Imperial-blue colour! A touch of sapphire has inspired a new look Iā€™m going to create for the Pink Tutu Club ā€“ think long tulle skirts in shades of imperial blue, with matching pastel blue tutus. It's going to be amazing!

Later on, I walked down to the Danube River and sat on one of those little boats. It felt incredibly magical, surrounded by the vibrant city and watching the boats pass by.

One of my favourite moments was seeing a group of little girls dressed up in little ballet costumes with their tutus. One of them had a little pink tutu. Such a magical feeling seeing little ones with their tiny tutus, already showing their love for ballet. You never know ā€“ maybe some of them will join the Pink Tutu Club when they grow up! My mission, you know ā€“ to bring a touch of pink tutus to every corner of the globe!

Now, Vienna is enchanting me more with every passing hour. My love affair with pink tutus and ballet, as you all know, continues on in this magnificent city. Iā€™m sure this wonā€™t be my last visit. There's simply too much magic and too much to discover, but for now, Iā€™ll be writing more about my experiences in my next blog post. Until then, my darling Tutu Tribe, spread the pink tutu love, and remember - every day can be a dance!

Love always,

Emma xx
