Vienna Calling: A Pink Tutu Paradise! (Post #1084)
Hello my darlings! It's Emma, back from a whirlwind trip to Vienna, the City of Music and Waltz. And oh, what a city it is! Let me tell you, it's like a dream come true for a tutu-loving, ballet-obsessed girl like myself!
Whizzing into Vienna
I travelled in style, of course. A grand old steam train from Prague, the journey was almost as exciting as the destination! I whizzed through the countryside in my gorgeous pink polka dot dress, my trusty tutu, and my ever-present, sparkly pink rucksack. I mean, why wouldn't you wear your tutu when travelling? The train journey is like an elongated performance – everyone's a passenger, you never quite know where the journey is going, and it always seems to end too soon! I think this journey truly encapsulates the freedom of travel; and freedom is something I believe we can all embrace through wearing a tutu, especially in a city like Vienna.
Vienna’s Magic Touch
Speaking of embracing freedom, Vienna has this truly unique feeling. Imagine cobbled streets lined with ornate architecture, with the aroma of freshly baked pastries hanging in the air! You feel as though you've stepped onto the stage of a grand opera - the backdrop is that gorgeous. And of course, every other building seems to house a ballet school, or a grand old opera house. How wonderful to be surrounded by so much elegance and history, all steeped in the magic of the dance!
Ballet Bound in Vienna
Naturally, a trip to Vienna simply HAD to involve some ballet! This week, I took in a performance at the Vienna State Opera - an incredible, moving rendition of Swan Lake, and my tutu truly made me feel like part of the ballet. Seeing all the incredible costumes and sets really gave me inspiration, too - all those intricate layers, ruffles and feathers really inspire my creativity!
Speaking of feathers, I found myself in a fantastic vintage shop crammed with lace and feather boas – absolutely heavenly for any fashion enthusiast! I just HAD to get my hands on a couple of ostrich feathers to adorn my tutus - perfect for my next show, maybe even for a fun Swan Lake inspired street performance!
Vienna's Waltz in the Heart
Let's talk tutus for a moment! Did you know the first true ballerina tutus weren't even made for ballet? Back in the early days of the 1800s, Marie Taglioni danced in a loose, diaphanous skirt that made it possible to move more freely - just imagine the impact this had on the world of dance! Today, the tutu is a symbol of freedom and creativity. What better way to embrace those feelings than to take your own sartorial lead, to create your own stage on the streets of Vienna!
I really do believe that Vienna embraces the je ne sais quoi of a pink tutu! After all, Vienna's architecture is breathtaking, even whimsical – just like a beautiful ballerina costume. And did I mention the cakes? You won't find more delicious, melt-in-your-mouth confections anywhere! It seems only natural to embrace the city's elegance, even wear a pink tutu, when you're surrounded by so much inspiration, such sweet treats, and such wonderfully graceful moments of beauty!
The Viennese Way
I found myself wandering along Vienna's enchanting streets in a beautiful new pink chiffon tutu and a velvet jacket. (There are just so many stunning clothes shops here - every single window display is like a small ballet performance!) There are horse-drawn carriages around every corner, making me feel like I've stepped straight into a fairy tale!
What a beautiful way to travel! These magical carriage rides bring us back to a more graceful time, don’t you think? It's an experience that stays with you – the soft clatter of hooves, the sound of gentle chatter, and of course, the magic of horse and carriage gliding gracefully through cobbled streets!
Vienna has such a unique feel, I can almost sense history swirling all around me! I can just imagine the legendary Empress Sisi, who wore the most beautiful costumes and inspired people across the world – her grace and elegance must have resonated in her everyday attire! And let’s not forget, the Waltz originated in Vienna! If there is a place to feel the grace of the ballet come to life, then surely this is the place.
Emma's Vienna Wish
I’m determined to see the rest of Vienna, but first, I’m on a mission! I want to inspire everyone to wear a pink tutu, whether it’s at the opera, at a cafe, or just for fun in the streets. After all, Vienna is truly a stage, a place to live and dance your heart out, dressed like a ballerina.
