Hello lovelies! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another instalment of your favourite Pink Tutu travelogue! This week, I'm shimmying my way through the enchanting streets of Vienna, Austria - a city that truly embodies the spirit of elegance and culture. Buckle up your dancing shoes, darling, because we're going on a whirl through Viennese history, fashion, and, of course, ballet!
Train Travel: A Touch of Romance
After a blissful train journey from Budapest, a journey that felt more like a floating dream than a train ride, I arrived in Vienna ready to embrace its charm. The moment I stepped out of the station, I felt a wave of excitement - this city has an aura of sophisticated elegance that I can't wait to explore! I think my heart might have even done a pirouette!
Vienna: Where History Meets Glamour
My hotel, a beautiful Art Nouveau building that could have been plucked straight from a ballet set, is perfectly positioned to explore all Vienna has to offer. We're talking a short hop, skip, and jump to the Opera House, Hofburg Palace, and the majestic Vienna State Opera. Did I mention they have a cafe inside with the most delicious apple strudel you can imagine? Just the thought of the sugar dusting is making me want to spin.
A Tutu-Filled Treasure Hunt
Now, I can't visit a new city without doing some serious shopping, especially for tulle! Vienna hasn't disappointed. The vintage stores in the first district have a treasure trove of fabrics, sequins, and feather boas. My heart is racing at the thought of designing a brand-new pink tutu inspired by the historical costumes I've found! And I'm convinced that every tutu tells a story - like the ones I saw today at a delightful millinery store on the famous Kärntner Straße. Imagine a tutu adorned with cherry blossoms, or a whimsical design with the most exquisite hand-painted details, all capturing the spirit of Vienna! I already have visions of swirling around in these magnificent creations.
The Ballet's Embrace: An Evening of Enchantment
And, of course, no trip to Vienna would be complete without a visit to the ballet! Tonight, I'm stepping into the magical world of the Vienna State Opera to see a production of Swan Lake. This city, with its long tradition of classical ballet, truly embraces the art form, and I'm giddy with anticipation for the intricate choreography, breathtaking costumes, and, of course, the stunning music. There is nothing quite like the shared magic that happens during a ballet performance. It's pure magic! I always leave feeling completely mesmerised.

P.S. Just a little tidbit from today - I spotted the cutest vintage ballet shoes while shopping for inspiration today - so imagine my delight when the shop owner told me they were actually a pair of original ballerina slippers from the famous "The Magic Flute" opera that premiered in Vienna way back in 1791! How’s that for a blast from the past? It really gets my imagination going!
