Vienna, My Darling, Vienna! (Post #1119)

Good morning, lovelies! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a new blog post, and guess what? I'm writing it from the heart of Vienna, Austria! Oh, it's just so utterly divine here. From the moment I stepped off the train (a gloriously elegant journey, I might add - something about chugging across the countryside with a little pink tulle trailing behind just screams "fairytale," doesn't it?), the cobblestones and the grand buildings with their ornate details stole my breath away.

This trip is extra special because I'm celebrating the success of my latest ballet performance in the Peak District! It was a delightful production of "Giselle" and the audiences absolutely adored my solo as the Wilis queen. They even gave me a bouquet of pink roses - how perfectly romantic!

Speaking of romantic, let's talk about Vienna. It's just bursting with romance. Even the air here smells of coffee and cake! And don't get me started on the waltz. I can practically hear it floating on the breeze.

This week's blog is all about fashion, history, and the waltz, because how can you possibly come to Vienna without getting swept up in its unique charm?

Fashion, Fashion Everywhere!

As a girl who practically lives in her tutu, Vienna was simply meant to be. The shops here are heaven! And I'm not just talking about ballet wear - although, dear reader, let me tell you, I just had to visit the most exquisite boutique specialising in the finest tulle and silk! Oh, and there's this little dressmaker's shop just a few streets over... It's my absolute dream to find the perfect pink tutu that is made by a Viennese artisan, you know, to commemorate this fabulous city!

I've also been scouring the antique shops, searching for a vintage corsage that screams "1800s Austrian elegance." It's a real challenge trying to choose between those exquisitely embroidered velvet creations and the vibrant, bright ones in floral silk, but that's what makes it fun, right?

Oh, I just had to visit the "Hofburg Palace," and let me tell you, it was worth every minute. Imagine an entire palace adorned with intricate, gilded details and historical art, all culminating in the breathtaking beauty of the Spanish Riding School! I swear, every piece of architecture here is a work of art in itself!

And then there are the cafes. Oh, the cafes! Where the locals meet for a morning coffee and pastry, with so much elegance and style. I can't wait to visit another cafe later this week and enjoy an elaborate pastry whilst scribbling away in my diary about all the lovely details that Vienna has to offer.

A Ballet History Lover's Paradise!

As I'm sure you can guess, my inner ballerina was positively squealing with delight to be in Vienna. After all, the city is steeped in ballet history! Did you know the first ballet company in the German-speaking world was established here? You can just imagine the opulent costumes and graceful dance routines that took place here, creating a lasting legacy of artistry and beauty that continues to captivate people across the world!

It seems almost impossible to visit Vienna without seeing at least one ballet performance, don't you think? And oh my, it's already happening! I’ve just bought tickets to see "Swan Lake" at the Vienna State Opera! I am so thrilled - a production in such a historic and majestic setting! I simply cannot wait to be swept away by the powerful choreography and emotive dance moves! I already feel those tutus tingling!

Of course, it's impossible to think about Vienna and ballet without thinking about Strauss's beautiful waltz! Honestly, I don't know why it took me so long to visit this glorious city - just thinking about it all fills me with such delight!

I have already explored the famous Vienna State Opera House - just stepping inside with its rich red velvet seating and grand chandeliers takes me straight to the heart of its history. And what about those ornate paintings adorning the walls? Imagine, this iconic opera house has witnessed generations of artistic masterpieces and incredible ballet performances! Just writing about it sends shivers down my spine!

And the Ballet, Darling, The Ballet!

Vienna, truly, has been such a delight! And I have no doubt my trip won't end with the “Swan Lake” performance. Vienna simply draws you in. There is always another charming street, another gorgeous cafe or perhaps another ballet show to see. But for now, I must head off for another little coffee break. I just know there is more inspiration out there in this enchanting city!

Stay tuned next Wednesday for another new blog post. Until then, wear your pink tutus proudly! After all, if you haven’t worn pink tutu, what have you actually really done?!

Much love, Emma xoxo
