Vienna Waltz: Tutu-ing Through the City of Music - Blog Post #1151

Guten Tag, darling tutus!
Vienna! The city of music, waltzes, and (of course) pink tutus! I arrived in this magical city yesterday, a whirlwind of excitement buzzing around me. I'd always dreamed of visiting Vienna, and it truly is as beautiful as I imagined.
After a gloriously scenic train ride across the Austrian countryside, a journey punctuated by the charming rolling hills and sparkling lakes, I checked into my hotel, a stunning boutique property right in the heart of the city. Naturally, I slipped into my new pink tulle skirt - you know, just a casual first day look - and headed out to explore!
Vienna's Old Town is like a dream straight out of a fairytale. Picturesque cobbled streets, ornate buildings dripping in history, and cafes with traditional wicker chairs spilling out onto the pavements, beckoning me to indulge in a slice of Sachertorte. And speaking of history...
Vienna: A Ballet Lover's Paradise
You see, my darlings, Vienna isn't just known for its music, it's also steeped in a rich ballet history. It's where the Waltz took centre stage, becoming the ultimate ballroom dance, and a tradition still cherished in the city. Did you know, it was actually Viennese dancer Johann Strauss the Younger, who is credited with revolutionising the Waltz, and whose waltz music continues to make me twirl in my tutu, even as I write this!
My itinerary this week is crammed full of ballet-related adventures. I'm planning on attending a performance at the Vienna State Opera, home to some of the most iconic ballet performances in the world. They even have a charming ballet academy for those eager to follow in the footsteps of legendary dancers like Anna Pavlova and Rudolf Nureyev. It’s got my toes tapping!
Pink Tutus in the City
You know, I simply had to make a statement upon arrival! This is Vienna after all! The city is famous for its style and grandeur. My wardrobe is ready to showcase the very essence of my pink-tutu-loving heart. This morning, I found the most beautiful blush pink tulle skirt - perfect for Vienna. I even managed to convince my hotel to display my pink tutu collection in their lobby! A true statement piece in this elegant, yet surprisingly vibrant city.
Later, I’ll be visiting the Kunsthistorisches Museum, a veritable treasure trove of art. It is renowned for its breathtaking collection of medieval and renaissance paintings. Not only that, but they also have a phenomenal collection of exquisite costumes and textiles! Imagine the historical garments from past ballerinas - pure heaven for a tutu-loving soul like me!
I have my eye on the city’s vibrant fashion scene as well, you know how I love to discover new designers and independent boutiques. You can imagine my delight at the plethora of exquisite vintage clothing stores! Every nook and cranny is filled with treasures waiting to be uncovered - I've even spied a few beautifully preserved ballet tutus from a bygone era! They’re even better than the ones I already own. I couldn’t resist purchasing a delicate antique pink feather boa. After all, every ballet lover needs a little sparkle, right?
Vienna by Horse and Carriage
As a self-proclaimed romantic at heart, a trip to Vienna isn’t complete without experiencing the magic of a horse-drawn carriage ride. I’ve booked a private carriage tour later this afternoon. This allows me to soak up the city’s beauty and charm, while enjoying the elegant slow pace of life. I’ll probably wear my most fabulous pink tutu - after all, it's not everyday you find a ballerina with a carriage all for herself. Just wait until you see my Insta posts!
Speaking of my Instagram darlings, be sure to follow my adventures! I'm @PinkTutuEmma, where you can join me as I explore the charming alleyways, discover hidden gems, and indulge in all things pink.
Until then, be sure to spread the pink tutu love and always remember to dream in tulle!
Lots of love and pink twirls,
Emma xoxo
