Vienna, my sweet! #PinkTutuVienna #Post1222

Hello, my darlings! 🩰✨ It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another dose of pink tutu magic from your favourite Derbyshire ballerina blogger, Emma! This week, I've flown (or rather, elegantly sashayed) over to the magnificent city of Vienna, a city that absolutely oozes with history, culture, and a dash of waltzing magic!

The train journey to Vienna was like stepping into a scene from a grand ballet. Imagine this: sunbeams streaming through the carriage windows, highlighting the fields of swaying wildflowers, and me, of course, perfectly attired in my gorgeous bubblegum pink tulle tutu (a vintage find, naturally!), paired with a chic black blouse and a playful cherry-red beret. As we glided along the tracks, I had a lovely chat with an elderly gentleman who told me stories of his youth in Vienna, and how it felt like another world! I loved hearing all about the bustling streets, the grandeur of the architecture, and the beautiful balls they held in the days of yore.

My arrival in Vienna was a real treat. Stepping off the train, I was greeted by the most enchanting sound: the melody of a waltz emanating from a charming street band playing beneath a tree laden with autumn leaves. How magical! It immediately made me want to whirl and twirl like a ballerina, and that's just what I did! After finding my little boutique hotel – a gorgeous building with ornate balconies and a little pink door! - I grabbed my little pink suitcase, twirled it around once for good measure, and set off for a walk to explore my surroundings.

This evening, I have a very special date. I am attending the Vienna State Opera to see a ballet production of Giselle, and let me tell you, I'm utterly beside myself with excitement! The Vienna State Opera is one of the most esteemed opera houses in the world. The opulence and grandeur of the place alone would be a treat, but to see a classical ballet like Giselle, the quintessential tale of tragic love and magical sorrow, in such a legendary setting is absolutely incredible!

I always do a little pre-show shopping, naturally, and the boutiques in Vienna did not disappoint! I managed to snag a pair of beautiful satin slippers in the most stunning shade of rose-gold, along with a delicate, hand-painted silk scarf with swirling motifs. Perfect for my evening at the ballet, wouldn't you say?

Vienna's architecture, my darlings, is something else! The architecture is magnificent! It feels like stepping into a fairy tale. Grand buildings adorned with ornate details, statues perched proudly upon columns, and parks overflowing with blooms – oh, how beautiful! I spent the afternoon wandering through the Old Town, exploring charming cafes and bakeries, all the while thinking, Oh, wouldn't a pink tutu look perfectly at home here? Even better, I found a charming little vintage shop tucked away on a cobblestone lane! It was crammed full of forgotten treasures – hats, gloves, scarves, and… yes, you guessed it… beautiful vintage tutus in shades of pastel pink! My eyes widened, I squealed, I did a little happy dance, and then I did the most logical thing – I bought three! They will look absolutely stunning against Vienna’s beautiful backdrop.

Speaking of dancing…. oh, how I'm loving the dancing scene in Vienna! It seems everyone here has a natural rhythm! From the graceful waltzers twirling through the streets to the charming buskers serenading their audience with fiddle tunes, Vienna is definitely a city that's always in motion!

And speaking of Vienna’s dance scene…I couldn’t resist stepping into a lovely little ballet studio tucked away down a side street. As soon as I opened the door, I could feel the air buzzing with a sense of joyous energy. A ballet teacher with a charming Viennese accent welcomed me, and after a brief warm-up (which included, of course, a delightful little ballet barre stretch), I joined a class of enthusiastic dancers. The teacher was so passionate and talented, her instructions so graceful, that I found myself instantly lost in the world of movement, flowing effortlessly from one position to the next. My heart was pounding, my muscles were engaged, but more importantly, I felt that familiar feeling of complete joy and liberation that I always get when I dance. Oh, how wonderful to lose myself in a good pirouette after a long day!

Tomorrow, I have my eye on another little shop on a quiet backstreet that’s known for its beautiful hand-painted ballet shoes. They’re rumored to be incredibly beautiful, so I have to see for myself! 🩰

I'm excited to see where my adventures in Vienna take me, my darlings, but one thing’s for sure: this lovely city is a place that definitely inspires a little pink tutu magic! I hope to have you all join me for a future ballet adventure from here, perhaps in my vintage tutu I picked up today?
