Welcome back to Pink Tutu Vienna, your weekly dose of tutus, travels, and total, utter pink-tasticness! It's Wednesday, which means it's time to spin, twirl, and celebrate all things fabulous right here in the waltz capital of the world: Vienna, Austria!
As you all know, I live and breathe for the thrill of the stage, and this week, I’ve been lucky enough to be whisked away by train, courtesy of the proceeds from my last performance at the prestigious Royal Opera House in London. Oh, darling, the train journey was utterly divine! I wore my dreamiest blush-pink tutu with a matching embroidered train – picture something out of a ballet adaptation of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." (Oh, don't get me started on the endless ballet stories; I could chat about them forever!)
Anyway, as soon as we crossed the border into Austria, I could feel the waltz magic in the air, just waiting to be tapped into. My heart skipped a beat – I was so excited I could hardly sit still! The air was filled with the music of Vienna. There were buskers everywhere, their instruments bursting forth with melodies both classic and contemporary.
The moment I set foot in Vienna, I was met with a city overflowing with historical grandeur and cultural delight. Think palaces, gardens, music halls, oh, and did I mention shops?! Everywhere I look, it's like stepping into a living, breathing fairytale, with opulent architecture and cobbled streets just begging for a Pink Tutu Waltz. It's a visual feast that would make a ballet director weak at the knees! The sheer majesty of this city... simply exquisite!
But hold on tight, my dears, because today is a Wednesday! Which means it’s Pink Tutu Wednesday! I’ve taken advantage of the gorgeous Vienna weather, (yes, even in October it's been so wonderfully bright!), to do a Pink Tutu Photo shoot in Schönbrunn Gardens, just a hop, skip, and jump from the city centre! I can tell you right now, the photos will blow you away! Oh, my dears, they’re absolutely enchanting! We’ve got majestic trees, sparkling fountains, and a certain Pink Tutu Ballerina looking absolutely fabulous against this utterly perfect backdrop! You won’t want to miss them, I can tell you that much. 😉
After a spot of Pink Tutu fun in the park, we headed for the Hofburg Palace! This opulent palace was once home to the Habsburgs, a powerful royal family who reigned over the Austrian Empire for centuries. As if the grandeur of the architecture weren't enough to take our breath away, inside the Palace there's a fascinating exhibition all about the Habsburg Collection. Oh my dears! This exhibition is truly mind-boggling! I felt as though I had travelled through time! Magnificent jewels, art treasures, portraits – even historic ballet shoes from the court of Empress Marie-Antoinette (such envy!)
After our history lesson, we treated ourselves to some divine Viennese pastries and coffee! Vienna, with its long history of cake and pastries, really knows how to put a fabulous cafe experience together! I absolutely adore Vienna! It’s not just a city, it's an experience that you have to savour – from the beautiful parks to the dazzling culture! Oh, my dears, there’s no place like Vienna for pure, unadulterated magic!
Before we wind down this Wednesday whirl, let me share with you some of the exciting news of what Vienna has in store for us this coming week:
Vienna State Opera - The Sleeping Beauty Ballet : Darling dears, you simply have to experience the majesty of the Vienna State Opera! They're showcasing Tchaikovsky’s The Sleeping Beauty, with costumes that are practically begging to be worn in a Pink Tutu dance! Tickets are almost impossible to get, but luckily, I managed to snag a couple! I can't wait!
Shopping Heaven: * My dears, a city as magnificent as Vienna is naturally home to some of the most *delightful boutiques and vintage shops! It's like a wonderland of feathers, sequins, and vintage lace! I have an endless shopping list for tutus and embellishments – I can already feel the need for a complete wardrobe update!
Pink Tutu Walkabout! I’m planning to take a stroll through the city in my bright pink tutu and document the entire thing on my Instagram! Come along and explore the Vienna vibe with me! And do tag me in any photos – it'll give me the warm and fuzzies to know I'm spreading the joy of Pink Tutus!
