Post #1227: Vienna Calling, Darling! A Tutu-tiful Whirl Through The City of Music 🎶
Oh my darlings, Vienna! It's been a whirlwind of waltzes, wonderful coffee, and of course, endless tutus! 🩰 I simply can't resist a little trip to Vienna every year. The city just has a certain charm that pulls me in like a magnetic force, especially when you add the magic of a stunning ballet performance or two. This year I'm here for a glorious two weeks, and my little tutu-clad self has a full agenda of tutu-tastic fun. 😉
Firstly, let's talk about my look. This week's wardrobe has been a glorious kaleidoscope of pink, darling. From a fluffy pink tutu dress with a touch of silver sparkle (perfect for a romantic evening out), to a vintage-style rose-pink knitted jumper paired with a pair of trusty ballet flats. Yes, I’m wearing pink and I’m not afraid to flaunt it! 💖 This vibrant colour always makes me feel so much happier. But, my true obsession, my darlings, has been with tutus, specifically vintage tutus! There are so many amazing stores in Vienna packed with treasures - a little fashion emporium for the vintage lover like myself. The designs, the fabrics, the delicate embellishments... Each tutu tells a story of a bygone era. And my shopping spree wasn't in vain! My little travel bag is stuffed with new treasures to wear back in Derbyshire. 🥰
But let’s get to the heart of my trip - ballet! I saw a show at the Vienna State Opera that quite simply blew my mind. "La Bayadère" was performed with such elegance and grace. The dancers, they floated across the stage like ethereal beings. The costumes were magnificent - my favourite, of course, were the pink ones. They were a sea of tulle, shimmering under the stage lights. Talk about making a grand entrance! ✨
As a ballet fanatic, it would be rude not to have a look at the beautiful architecture that holds such history, right? So of course, I've taken a few strolls past the Vienna State Opera House, an absolutely glorious building, and just absorbed the grandeur of the whole thing. You know, I have this theory - maybe all the amazing ballets created here have magically infused the very walls with their grace and beauty. I can almost imagine tutus twirling in the breeze as I wander around! 🩰
Beyond the ballet and the tutus, Vienna is bursting with delightful discoveries. I just had to stop by Cafe Central and enjoy a Sachertorte with a delightful Viennese coffee. It was just the kind of decadent, pink-sugar-coated treat my heart yearned for. Vienna really is the perfect place for an indulgent moment of pure bliss, my darlings.
And no trip to Vienna would be complete without exploring the stunning gardens of the Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the Habsburgs. Walking through these meticulously manicured gardens filled with history and grandeur, with their lush flora and impressive statues, I just feel a little bit like I’m in a fairy tale, and you just know I had to capture some pics in my pinkest outfits! 🌹
I've even been on a leisurely stroll along the banks of the Danube, watching the boats glide along the surface like elegant swans. What can I say? It's a city full of magic and grace. Vienna’s definitely winning me over with it's charming, regal atmosphere. And, I haven’t even mentioned the glorious museums!
Of course, a little shopping never hurt anyone! The other day, I discovered a delightful shop called " Kleiderstube", just tucked away in a narrow street, where I picked up a delightful vintage hat and a beautiful lace blouse. You could tell by the look in the shop assistant's eye - she knew she’d just found someone who genuinely appreciated her unique treasures! 💖
Speaking of appreciating things, one thing I can't help but notice is that while Vienna has a certain sense of regality and formality, the people here are surprisingly warm and friendly, always with a ready smile and "Guten Tag." I can see why they're called “The People of Vienna”! And that definitely includes their incredible bakeries! 🥐
Vienna has that special blend of sophisticated beauty and friendly charm, and a real warmth that welcomes me every time. I already can't wait to return next year for a new round of tutus and waltzing adventures.
Remember, my darlings, a pink tutu is a reminder to be fearless, graceful and never afraid to make a grand entrance!
Until next Wednesday,
Emma
