Pink Tutu Vienna: Whirlwind Wednesday in the City of Waltz - Post #1229

Hello my lovely tutu-loving friends! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another exciting post from your favourite pink-obsessed ballerina, straight from the enchanting city of Vienna! This week has been a total whirlwind of tutus, twirls and…well, you’ll have to read on to find out! 😉

For the last year I've been posting once a week on a Wednesday from my travels. And this week it's Austria! I've had to miss a few Wednesdays to fund the trip, by performing, so it's time for another update from me and Pink Tutu!

This time around, I decided to embark on a journey through the heart of Europe by…wait for it…train! Yes, my dear friends, a grand railway adventure across stunning landscapes to Vienna. The journey was itself a magical experience, all grand carriage interiors, tinkling bells, and views that could have inspired even the most jaded of artists!

It’s 2018-11-21, which for me, means a fabulous ballet performance in Vienna - the Opera House. As I walked through the streets on my way to the venue, it was as if the city itself was a living, breathing ballerina, her cobblestone streets swirling with the elegance of a waltz, and her buildings standing tall like noble swans in a majestic lake.

Now, we all know how much I adore a good old-fashioned ballet show. But before diving into the spectacle, let's talk about a subject that makes my heart beat faster than a cha-cha - Tutus! And no place could be more fitting for a Tutu Tale than Vienna, the very city that birthed the ballet tutu as we know it! Imagine that: pink tutus woven with a history of waltzes, royal court balls, and ballerinas who graced the world with their exquisite grace! How's that for a sprinkle of history with a side of sparkle?

As a matter of fact, just the other day, I was exploring a tucked-away shop called the Vintage Vienna on a charming cobblestone street, where I discovered the most exquisite collection of vintage tutus! There were layers and layers of lace, soft tulle, and some even sported little velvet bows in the most gorgeous shades of pastel pink!

My little tutu heart was aflutter with joy. Each tutu felt like a little slice of ballet history, whispered secrets of ballerinas gone by, and an invitation to a fairytale past. It made me realise that while the tutu itself might have changed over time - from the lavish Roman Romantic tutus to the whimsical Romantic tutus - it's always held a place of elegance and artistry in the world of ballet.

My little foray into vintage fashion had me bursting with excitement. As I walked out, feeling like a pink princess, I knew I had to have my own Vienna-inspired tutu!

The perfect place to shop for pink was the Vienna Naschmarkt. Now, the Naschmarkt is more than just a market, my dears! It’s a symphony of colours, scents, and flavors that could make your taste buds dance! They even have an entire section for clothes and accessories. There I found a perfect piece of tulle in a delicate shade of pink that instantly reminded me of the ballerinas in the grand Vienna Opera House, twirling their way across the stage.

That evening, I donned my newest tutu, and my heart did a pirouette! It was a pink creation fit for a Viennese fairytale! As I walked towards the Opera House, I felt a little bit like a magical being myself, dancing down the cobbled streets, embracing the rhythm of the city.

That evening's performance of Swan Lake was something else entirely! The choreography was like a beautiful tapestry woven with grace and emotion. I found myself entranced by the ballerinas, their movements so effortless, yet so powerful. The swan’s costumes were an absolute marvel: a riot of feathers, feathers everywhere! It almost made me forget the tutus, just a little. 😉

Even the musicians, with their enchanting tunes, felt like a part of the performance, like they were themselves performing a grand waltz in the hearts of the audience. The music transported us all into a different world. A world where dreams could fly on wings, a world where beauty and magic danced side by side.

And that's the thing about ballet, isn't it? It's an art form that reaches deep inside you, speaks to your soul, and invites you to soar! It’s magic, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

Even though Vienna’s most famous dance was the waltz, I’m happy that my Pink Tutu made it all the way there! What a city for the little pink tulle things we all love, with so much history of beautiful dances!

And speaking of beautiful dances, don’t forget to keep your eye on this space for next week’s update on the world of the pink tutu in Vienna! I'll be keeping you posted on my latest ballet adventures.

Now, go forth and dance! (And maybe wear a pink tutu while you're at it!)
