Vienna Calling: Tutu Tales & Trams in the City of Music 🩰 (Blog Post #1237)

Hello, darlings! Emma here, ready to twirl you all into a waltz of wonder with another blog post from your favourite pink tutu wearing adventurer. It's Wednesday, so it's time to gather round for another dose of Viennese escapades!

This week has been positively peachy, if I may say so myself, just like this little number I'm wearing today. It's a bubblegum pink silk tutu with fluffy feather trims and layers upon layers of shimmering tulle - just right for frolicking around this majestic city! I think it might be my most fabulous creation yet!

Speaking of magnificent things, Vienna! What a marvel. It's all about classical grandeur, ornate architecture and a delicious symphony of art, music, and culture. This week, I've been twirling through the streets, sinking into the charm of Vienna's many museums, and taking a whirl through the captivating world of ballet!

Let's begin with the ballet, darling, because after all, it’s what I live and breathe. Last night, I had the utter joy of attending a performance at the Vienna State Opera. It was "The Sleeping Beauty" - a tale of enchanted princesses and valiant princes, all choreographed to Tchaikovsky's ethereal music. You wouldn't believe the intricate choreography! The dancers were so elegant, every step was a little jewel, each leap a feather-light symphony. Honestly, it took me right back to my childhood days of dreaming of grand stages and elegant waltzes.

And if the opera wasn’t enough, I even treated myself to a private ballet lesson this morning with the lovely Madame Charlotte, an absolute treasure! She gave me some stunning new moves to try and we spent some time discussing the history of ballet, from its royal origins in the courts of Louis XIV to the dazzling development of techniques like pointe shoes. We even took a peek at the gorgeous hand-sewn tutus in Madame Charlotte’s atelier - truly a treat! If you’re in Vienna, I wholeheartedly recommend trying out a class or two, darling. It's so empowering to get lost in the world of movement and grace.

Now, let’s talk fashion! After my whirlwind morning, I treated myself to some Viennese retail therapy, because honestly, you simply can’t visit a city with such a rich cultural heritage without embracing its fashion. I stumbled upon the most divine little boutique nestled amongst the charming cobbled streets - a treasure trove of luxurious fabrics, decadent embroidery and, of course, oh-so-lovely pink. I fell in love with a breathtaking silk blouse with pearl accents and some utterly dreamy ruffled heels – perfect for strolling through the gardens or having a fancy Viennese coffee with friends.

My absolute favourite pastime in Vienna has to be riding on the tram! The old tram cars are beautifully crafted and there’s something quite magical about being whisked through the city streets whilst marvelling at the magnificent architecture. I particularly adore the vintage carriages with those beautiful plush red seats - such a romantic touch! I mean, come on, who needs a carriage pulled by horses when you can have one powered by electricity? Pure glamour.

As for the rest of the city, well, it's bursting with incredible experiences! My most recent adventure took me to the Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna’s stunning imperial summer residence, where the breathtaking Baroque architecture and expansive gardens absolutely transported me to a fairytale world! I could easily imagine a tutu-clad Marie Antoinette herself waltzing across the lawns! I had to snap a few pictures of my tutu in front of this opulent beauty, naturally. It was too gorgeous to resist!

But no visit to Vienna is complete without a dose of Viennese cuisine, darling! And of course, there's a special place in my heart for a good cuppa – but that’s a story for another blog!

Until next week, my dearest readers, take a whirl in the magic of this magnificent city. Remember, a little bit of pink and a whole lot of love can make even the dullest day glitter! And always remember - if in doubt, put on your tutu and dance your way to joy!

Catch you next Wednesday!

Your twirling friend,

Emma 💖
