Pink Tutu Vienna: Waltz into Wonderful! (Blog Post #1277)

Wednesday, 23rd October 2019

Good morning, my dearest Tutuettes! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a new adventure on Pink Tutu Vienna! I'm currently ensconced in the glorious city of Vienna, my heart aflutter with excitement. The cobbled streets are whispering tales of waltzes and emperors, and the air itself smells like fresh pastries and opera tunes.

Vienna, you see, is a ballet-lover's dream. From the magnificent Vienna State Opera, a jewel box of a theatre, to the captivating Vienna Ballet, renowned for its artistry and technical brilliance, this city pulsates with the spirit of dance. It's hard not to get caught up in the enchantment!

Speaking of enchantment, can we talk about this tutu? This week, I'm sporting a delightful creation from a local vintage shop. It's a vintage silk confection, a swirl of pale pink and peach with layers upon layers of delicate tulle. The most beautiful detail is the delicate hand-beaded trim around the waistband - absolutely perfect for twirling beneath the Viennese moon.

Oh, and speaking of twirling, did you know that Vienna actually has a beautiful ballet street? The Stephansplatz, just a stone's throw from the glorious St. Stephen's Cathedral, is a ballet haven. On a Tuesday afternoon, you'll see the students from the Vienna State Opera Ballet School, twirling and leaping through the city square. You might even see me joining in, because let's be honest, can you ever say no to a chance to pirouette?

My adventures this week have been nothing short of magical. On Monday, I enjoyed the most glorious lunch in the Schönbrunn Palace Gardens. Picture this: a white table draped in silk, surrounded by blooming roses, with a breathtaking view of the palace itself. I dined on Wiener Schnitzel, the classic Viennese delight, while gazing out at the graceful arches and pastel colours of the palace. And of course, no trip to Vienna would be complete without a Viennese coffee! I indulged in a perfect little cafe latte, a frothy cloud of perfection, at a cozy café tucked away in a cobbled backstreet.

And speaking of cozy, what better way to enjoy Vienna than by horse-drawn carriage? This week, I took a delightful journey through the heart of the city, watching the world go by from a cushioned seat. The horses, dappled with sweat and sun, pulled me through charming streets, past the magnificent State Opera House, with its elegant façade, and towards the imposing Imperial Palace. The city is truly beautiful, but viewing it from the gentle rocking of a carriage was an unforgettable experience.

My Top Vienna Tutu Tips!

Vienna is a city bursting with beauty and culture, so whether you're a tutu-wearing ballerina or simply a lover of the finer things in life, there's something magical to be found. Here are some tips to ensure your Viennese adventure is as dreamy as possible:

  • Embrace the Elegance: Vienna is a city that relishes elegance and grace. Put on your most glamorous dress or outfit and channel your inner Viennese lady. Don't be afraid to twirl!

  • Step into the Past: Vienna is a city steeped in history, so be sure to explore the majestic palaces, the cobblestone streets and the grandeur of the grand buildings. Immerse yourself in the rich heritage of the Habsburg dynasty, visit museums and art galleries.

  • * Indulge in Viennese Delights:* Spoil your taste buds with delectable cakes and pastries from traditional Viennese cafes. Vienna is a pastry haven. I highly recommend a sachertorte!

  • Unwind with a Waltz: The Waltz is a dance born in Vienna. Experience the beauty and magic of the waltz at the Vienna State Opera, at the famous Hofburg Ball, or even at a traditional Viennese dance club.

  • Experience the Culture: Attend a performance at the Vienna State Opera, enjoy a symphony concert, or delve into the artistic heart of the city at a contemporary art gallery. The city truly has something for everyone.

And remember, don't forget to wear a pink tutu! Whether you're shopping on Graben, indulging in Viennese delicacies at a local café, or enjoying a scenic horse-drawn carriage ride, let your tutu be your passport to happiness.

This week has been a ballet-infused dream, and I'm so excited to see what new adventures await me in the weeks to come. Keep checking in with Pink Tutu Vienna to follow my adventures. Until next Wednesday, my dearest Tutuettes, keep dancing and keep spreading the pink tutu love!

**Yours always,

Emma**
