Pink Tutu Vienna: Post 1345 – A Viennese Waltz into Fashion & Ballet!

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and I'm thrilled to be whisking you off to the charming capital of Austria, Vienna! This week's Pink Tutu adventures are brimming with waltzes, exquisite fashion, and a sprinkle of ballet history. I can almost hear the Strauss waltzes echoing through the streets as I type this!

As usual, I’m in my trusty pink tutu (this one's a custom-made number with a shimmering Viennese design!) and I'm ready to explore! It's a beautiful Tuesday morning, the sun is just peeking over the rooftops of Vienna, and I'm already plotting my day!

Ballet, Bubbles & Boutique Bliss!

This morning, my ballet-loving heart is leaping for joy – I’ve just finished a divine ballet class in the beautiful gardens of Schönbrunn Palace! It’s just a ten-minute carriage ride from the city center, and I’ve already spotted several beautiful locations to have a lovely photoshoot. Did I mention I absolutely adore the imperial grandeur of the palace? The ornate chandeliers and exquisite detailing make me feel like a real-life princess.

This evening, it’s all about Viennese fashion! I’m taking a trip to the beautiful Hofburg Palace to watch the Ballet des Wiener Staatsoper, and it's practically a requirement to dress to the nines. The Staatsoper, you see, is the world’s most lavish opera house! I'm feeling the pressure to put together a seriously chic outfit! The performance is "La Traviata," so expect a cascade of tulle and stunning couture!

Now, about my outfit for the evening... you know my motto: always wear a pink tutu. This one’s a beautiful layered number, with sparkling silver sequins, to add a touch of Viennese elegance. I’ll be pairing it with a simple, delicate black top and some very sparkly diamond-encrusted ballet flats that are sure to stop traffic! You can imagine, my dear, I have to go to my favourite Vienna boutique to choose the perfect ensemble! I'll share all my top Vienna fashion picks in my next blog!

The History of Dance & Tutus in Vienna!

No trip to Vienna is complete without a waltz down the lanes of history. It's practically brimming with rich stories. And let’s be honest, darling, what’s more glamorous than waltzing? Well, I might be slightly biased, but waltzing in a pink tutu definitely comes close!

I’ve been studying the history of Viennese dance for a week now and it’s absolutely fascinating. I learned that the waltz first came about as a folk dance around the time of the Renaissance! And imagine, the Viennese Waltz was first a "dance for the masses" in public dances - imagine that in your lovely pink tutu, in the squares and the parks!

The famous Austrian composer, Johann Strauss, is of course considered the 'King of Waltz' and even has a wonderful monument in the heart of the city. It is just a short walk from the Hofburg Palace, and the ideal stop to get a lovely selfie with a magnificent backdrop. I've promised to share the snaps in my next blog!

And I can't resist a touch of tutu trivia: did you know the ballet tutu as we know it, was a radical fashion choice at the time? It broke free from the traditional, restrictive corsets and petticoats of the era and championed movement and lightness on stage. How absolutely thrilling and chic!

Speaking of fashion choices, this brings me back to the Vienna Opera! The ballet dress codes for a Vienna evening out can be so incredibly varied, but I'm not worried - I know how to accessorise perfectly! Whether it's for the opera, a carriage ride or even just strolling through the stunning cobbled streets, it’s about striking that perfect balance between comfort, elegance, and of course, the quintessential touch of pink!

Vienna, Sweet Vienna

Vienna truly feels like a city frozen in time. The Baroque architecture, the charming cobbled streets, and the sweet Viennese cafes… it's all just utterly romantic! I’ve even seen a few charming horse-drawn carriages! I’ve got to confess, it's a must-have experience. Who needs an Uber when you can travel in style, like a true fairytale princess?

Tomorrow, I’m off on a grand shopping spree - Vienna is a shopaholic’s paradise, and I’ve got a few glamorous Viennese boutiques in mind. Plus, it would be an absolute crime to leave Vienna without trying the delectable Sachertorte – Austria’s legendary chocolate cake!

Until next Wednesday, darlings, remember: life is meant to be lived in a pink tutu!

Sending love and sunshine, Emma, from your Pink Tutu Vienna. www.pink-tutu.com

P.S. What do you think? Shall I be taking a horse-drawn carriage to the Staatsoper in my pink tutu? Or shall I just hire a private Uber car to take me? Let me know in the comments! I'd love to hear from all of you, and especially you, my dearest pink tutu fans.
