Itās Emma, your favourite tutu-wearing, pink-obsessed traveller, back with another exciting instalment from my weekly Wednesday blog. Todayās blog is extra special, as we're waltzing our way into Vienna, Austria! I'm buzzing with excitement, my darling readers, because this city is a wonderland for a ballet lover like me!
Vienna has been whispering sweet nothings in my ear for months now, and it was only a matter of time before I succumbed to its charm. This majestic city is steeped in music and dance history - it's a haven for ballet enthusiasts! I knew the second I stepped off the train (yes, a majestic, comfy train journey from my Derbyshire home) that I was in for a treat!
First impressions?
Letās just say my first impression was āwow, wow, wow!ā. Imagine cobblestone streets lined with stunning, pastel-coloured buildings, a blend of Baroque and Gothic architecture, elegant horse-drawn carriages gliding through the bustling squaresā¦ itās truly breathtaking! It was so easy to slip into a glamorous, vintage mood right away. The Vienna air, filled with the sweet scent of coffee and pastries, definitely added to that charming atmosphere.
Pink and Plenty of Shopping!
You already know how much I love a good shopping spree, and Vienna has me absolutely spoiled for choice. The first stop, naturally, was to find the perfect tutu for my adventures here. And let me tell you, dear readers, I struck gold! Imagine a pale, delicate blush-pink tulle skirt, cascading in graceful layers - so utterly chic and fairytale-like!
But the shopping adventures didnāt stop there. Vienna has a plethora of vintage boutiques and charming independent shops bursting with hidden treasures, each offering their own unique fashion tales. I was drawn to the timeless elegance of the Viennaās fashion scene - lots of chic, timeless classics with a touch of quirky, vintage charm. Itās certainly a city that knows how to make a statement. I came back with enough fabulous new items to keep me in a sartorial trance for weeks, that's for sure.
A Ballet Loverās Paradise:
For me, Viennaās true magic lies in its dance scene. This city is the heart of European ballet history, and it practically pulsates with its heritage! As I waltzed around the city, every street corner, every statue, and even the coffeehouses whispered stories of legendary dancers and composers. I was completely mesmerized!
Today, for instance, I spent the entire morning getting lost in the exquisite architecture of the Vienna State Opera. Itās such a grand, awe-inspiring venue. And guess what? My heart skipped a beat when I found a dusty little book on tutu history, tucked away in the gift shop. Imagine - tutus dating back to the 1800s, worn by legendary ballerinas who danced under the same chandeliers as me today. Just wow.
I'm already planning to catch a performance at the Vienna State Opera. I can't wait to feel the energy, the elegance, and the sheer brilliance of world-class ballet. Imagine: the shimmering lights, the plush velvet seats, the hushed anticipation, and then the graceful twirls, the leaps, the magic - it's a sensory experience that makes me completely giddy with excitement! Iāve even managed to secure tickets for a performance of āSwan Lakeā at the Vienna Volksoper! Oh my goodness! This city is giving me so many ballerina dreams!
On a Horse-drawn Carriageā¦
As you might guess, my obsession with the beautiful things in life isnāt limited to just ballet and fashion. Oh no, my lovelies! Vienna also has a special place in my heart because of the horses! Imagine, for a moment, the gentle clinking of hooves on cobblestone streets, the soft sway of a carriage, and the majestic power of a perfectly-trained steed - pure magic, wouldnāt you say? My recent adventures took me on a delightful horse-drawn carriage ride through the heart of Vienna, leaving me with some truly exquisite Instagrammable moments.
My Wish For You...
You know how much I love seeing you all rocking your tutus and bringing some extra magic to your day. Iām spreading the pink-tutu-love around Vienna - from a stroll through Schƶnbrunn Palace to a leisurely coffee at a cafe. I think my pink tutu is making all of the locals smile!
Speaking of my travels, did I tell you how I fund all these amazing adventures? My secret is my dance performances - whether it's a charity event or a graceful display of pirouettes at a grand ball.
