Hello my lovely tutu-tastic readers! It's Emma, your favourite pink-clad ballerina, and this week I'm bringing you sunshine from Vienna, Austria! ☀️ Vienna, oh Vienna! How I adore your elegant cobbled streets, your magnificent palaces, and of course, your legendary ballet scene. 😉 This week, I've been swept up in a whirlwind of tutus, tiaras and… well, quite a lot of delicious Viennese pastries! 🧁
I arrived in Vienna last Friday, whisked here on a grand train journey through the rolling Austrian countryside. The carriages were opulent, the seats were plush, and there was even a lovely gentleman in a tweed jacket who was kind enough to help me store my suitcase, even though it was a touch larger than standard due to the multitude of tutus packed within! 💃
Speaking of tutus, I simply cannot be in Vienna without visiting the stunning Theater an der Wien, which just so happens to have a rather special connection to the world of the tutu. Did you know that the very first public ballet performance took place in Vienna? Now that’s some serious ballet history! 🤯 It was all thanks to the dancing talents of the legendary dancer Marie Salle. Legend has it that her elegant performance had everyone talking about this daring new art form – and, you guessed it, a new era for tutus was born! ✨
Of course, no visit to Vienna would be complete without seeing a performance at the famous Vienna State Opera (better known to us ballet enthusiasts as the Wiener Staatsoper). It's simply a dream to see these elegant ballets take place in such a beautiful setting! This week I witnessed the magic of Swan Lake with the gorgeous costumes and the intricate, timeless choreography – a truly mesmerising experience. 😌
But it wasn’t all just ballet and fancy palaces, darling! My adventure has involved a spot of lovely fashion, as you know I love! 😊 One of my favourite things to do when visiting a new city is to scour the shops for treasures that reflect the local vibe. I was particularly excited to discover a quaint little boutique hidden down a cobblestone alley, filled with exquisite Austrian jewellery – think sparkling crystal and delicate flower motifs! 💎 🌺
I’m also finding Vienna utterly delicious. They’ve been spoiling me rotten with treats that have been sending my taste buds into a flurry. Their traditional “Kaffeehaus” are perfect for a spot of afternoon tea – complete with cakes, pastries, and enough sugar to send even a ballerina like me into a spin! ☕🍰
And on the subject of deliciousness, I simply have to rave about the local pastry shops! They are everywhere you look, tempting passers-by with a dazzling display of sweet creations. My favourite find was a delightful bakery filled with decadent Viennese Apfelstrudels (and yes, I bought enough to bring home to Derbyshire for the whole family!) 🤤🍎
As always, my fellow fashionistas, the colour pink has been out in force in Vienna. The gorgeous blush-coloured buildings, the soft pink hues on the cobblestone pavements, the rose gardens bursting with pink blossoms - it's truly inspiring. 🌸💖
One thing I particularly love about Vienna is that everyone is so stylish – from the elegantly dressed gentlemen strolling through the gardens to the sophisticated ladies indulging in afternoon coffee, they just radiate chic vibes! Even the local pigeons, strutting around with their shiny feathers, seem to be taking inspiration from the fashionable folk! 😂
This week’s #PinkTutuVienna outfit was a dream: a dreamy pink tulle tutu, paired with a sleek black velvet top, some sparkly earrings, and a gorgeous feather boa for added flair! 💖💎 It felt very elegant and graceful, a perfect blend of ballerina and sophisticated traveler, don’t you think?
