Oh darling, you won't believe what I've been up to! My train journey from Derbyshire to Vienna was truly spectacular, I popped on my favourite pink tutu for the trip and it really added some whimsy to the journey. You know how I feel about train travel, it's all part of the adventure! This week's blog post is from the heart of Vienna, a city buzzing with culture, coffee and yes, you guessed it - pink!
Speaking of pink, I must tell you about the most incredible shop I found near the Opera House. Imagine rows and rows of tutus, not just the standard white ones, but vibrant fuchsia, shocking pink, and a delightful bubblegum pink I just couldn't resist! My bank account cried a little but my tutu-loving heart sang! You know me, I simply couldn't leave without at least one new feather boa, the most wonderful emerald green one with sparkling sequins. Perfect for an evening at the Vienna State Opera, wouldn't you agree?
But let's rewind a little. Vienna, ah Vienna! My first glimpse of this enchanting city was truly magical. The majestic architecture, the cobblestone streets, and that iconic clock tower, it was as if I'd stepped into a fairytale! The charming atmosphere reminded me of my childhood, when every day was a chance to dream and believe in the extraordinary. Vienna seemed to whisper a promise of endless wonder, a symphony waiting to be unveiled.
I simply had to find a traditional cafe, and boy, did I find a good one! Sitting in a plush velvet chair, surrounded by swirling waltzes and the aroma of strong Viennese coffee, I felt like a character from a vintage film. The afternoon sun cast long shadows through the ornate windowpanes, bathing the café in a warm glow, the perfect backdrop for my pink tutu (yes, it always makes an appearance). The sweet pastries and the friendly locals only added to the charm of this wonderful place. I could happily spend days, nay, weeks here, soaking up the beauty and the romance of this magnificent city!
Speaking of romance, Vienna is also a city of ballet. And who doesn't love a good ballet, especially one set in such a grand venue! Tonight, I am off to see a special performance at the Vienna State Opera, Swan Lake, and I simply can't wait! I am actually quite excited about the performance, Swan Lake, and, of course, I've selected the perfect tutu for the occasion. I am leaning towards a blush pink one, with a few layers of delicate tulle. The show begins at 7.30 pm so I'll have a lovely afternoon to relax, explore a bit more, and write in my journal - but don't worry, I'll share my thoughts on the performance in next week's post.
Did you know, that Vienna has a very rich ballet history? The Vienna State Opera has a legacy of renowned dancers and breathtaking productions. In fact, the corps de ballet, the group of dancers that create the backdrop of the stage, are absolutely superb! This kind of spectacle is what truly inspires me. Seeing dancers from around the globe coming together to share their passion, their skill, and their art - it's just magical. And don't even get me started on the tutus! Those elaborate creations are pure artistry. Some of them are simply masterpieces of fabric and detail, truly worthy of a pink tutu enthusiast.
This whole experience is making me consider if a pink tutu ballet school would be a good idea for Vienna? The idea has been brewing in my mind for a while and seeing the graceful Vienna State Opera dancers has really got me inspired! A place for girls to discover the magic of ballet and unleash their inner sparkle! Just think about it: pink tutu leotards, adorable tutus for every skill level and endless opportunities to create wonderful performance. And let's not forget those amazing feather boas for a touch of glamour. Yes, I have decided it's going to be something I put my energy into, you'll just have to wait and see how it all unfolds!
The beauty of Vienna, with its historical streets, stunning architecture and captivating cultural gems, has certainly stolen a little piece of my heart. I'm already planning my next trip back. Vienna is truly a city to savour, to linger in, and to let yourself get swept away by its magic, a pink tutu, and maybe even a little waltz.
