Pink Tutu Vienna - #1413: Waltz into Wonder in the City of Dreams
Bonjour from Vienna, darling! Itās Wednesday, which means itās time for another dose of pink tulle and European magic from your favourite tutu-clad travel blogger! This week, Iām waltzing through the streets of Vienna, a city brimming with music, history and, of course, an abundance of fabulousness!
Vienna has always held a special place in my heart. This city oozes elegance and sophistication. Itās where waltz rhythms whisper through the cobbled streets and where the grand echoes of opera reverberate across grand squares. And letās not forget, the imperial history! Think swirling ballrooms, glittering gowns and the most beautiful waltzing couples. I mean, even I, your average pink-tutu wearing blogger from Derbyshire, can feel a dash of royalty settling in!
But donāt worry, my darlings, even with all this historical charm, my adventures in Vienna havenāt been solely confined to grand palaces and opulent theatres! Oh no, this girl knows how to find a little pink-tutu fun amongst the waltzes and wiener schnitzel!
My Vienna Story - So far:
I arrived in Vienna last Saturday, travelling by train, naturally. Itās such a luxurious and romantic way to travel, isnāt it? I practically had a photoshoot in my little pink tutu on the platform, and the conductor was utterly charmed! My darling mama knitted me a bespoke pink tutu for the journey and it was the perfect addition to my Vienna ensemble - I paired it with a little ivory lace top, and of course, a few of my favourite pink accessories. (Who could resist the adorable pink crystal heart earrings I snagged in Salzburg last week?)
After a sumptuous ā I do mean absolutely sumptuous! ā afternoon tea with an orchestra, I made my way to my lodgings, an enchanting boutique hotel tucked away in the heart of Vienna's old town. There were beautiful old buildings with charming balconies everywhere. The air was filled with the scent of jasmine and lavender and a soft glow of golden light just seemed to filter through the whole place! Honestly, it was the perfect spot for a pink-tutu loving traveller to recharge after her journey.
My Waltz Through the City:
Monday - The day began with a morning ballet class at the Wiener Staatsballett studio. Oh, the magic of being in such a legendary studio! And I felt the history - so much talent has graced this floor, all those incredible dancers, their stories woven into the very fabric of the building! I absolutely had to do a twirl, or five, on the very same stage as my favourite ballerina, Anya Pavlova. It was quite a moment, let me tell you.
Then I popped over to the opera house! Iād seen the famous "Wiener Staatsoper" many times from the outside but to be inside, surrounded by such beauty and history? It was simply breath-taking! And yes, my tutu-clad self took a few pictures ā because a pink-tutu clad girl in a grand Vienna Opera House? Thatās definitely worth documenting, my darlings!
Tuesday:
I began the day with the most charming carriage ride Iāve ever had! Now, a lot of people don't think about horses in a city like Vienna, but there are stables tucked away throughout the city, offering tours! Honestly, who needs a taxi when you can glide through the streets in a beautiful, horse-drawn carriage? My horse, āBallerina,ā was a dream! She even managed to find me the most gorgeous lilac wildflower bouquet at the park, which, naturally, I added to my tutu!
In the afternoon, I spent several hours browsing in one of Vienna's beautiful antique shops. I found a vintage tutu that's positively screaming to be worn at my next pink tutu party - you'll have to wait until the next blog to see that one! And just as the afternoon turned into twilight, I decided to head to Schƶnbrunn Palace to watch the sun set over the beautiful gardens. As the golden hour bathed the city in a soft, dreamy light, it was almost impossible not to feel utterly romantic!
Wednesday:
Today ā thatās right now ā I am sitting in a quaint little cafĆ© nestled amidst the heart of the city's old town. I'm writing this blog post with my usual cup of peppermint tea, which they bring in an elegant floral teapot, and my chocolate-coated Sachertorte, (yes, this is where it originates, the Sacher-Torte!) and feeling the incredible energy of Vienna pulse through me.
I love how this city is steeped in so much history, yet vibrates with a modern energy. Vienna knows how to live in style, just like me, darlings! In the afternoon, Iāll be making my way to one of Viennaās most stunning ballet performances - and I know Iāll be swooning at every move. Oh, Vienna, you are pure magic!
This Weekend in Vienna:
As the weekend unfolds, I plan to venture beyond the city center. I've heard tales of Vienna's enchanting woodlands and its charming little villages - ideal for romantic picnics and explorations in my pink tutu, of course. My dear friends will join me for an outing, and maybe, just maybe, I can convince one of them to slip into a pink tutu, even just for the day. What could be more delightful than a group of friends, enjoying the wonders of Austria, dressed in a cascade of pink tulle?
So, as the sun sets over Vienna and the gentle hum of the city surrounds me, I canāt help but feel a deep sense of gratitude for this beautiful city, and the beauty it inspires. And who knows? Perhaps next week, Iāll be back in Vienna, finding another fabulous little pink tutu hidden away in some dusty attic! Or, perhaps I'll be waltzing across a different city! Only time will tell!
Until then, my darlings, embrace lifeās little joys ā don't be afraid to twirl! And always remember - the world is your stage, and a pink tutu is always a good idea!
Much Love,
Emma
