Vienna Waltz: Tutu-ing Around the Imperial City - Post #1450
Dearest readers,
Welcome back to Pink Tutu Vienna, my weekly chronicle of life, fashion, and frills from the heart of Europe! This week, I’m swirling into the captivating city of Vienna, a place where waltzing dreams meet baroque elegance and tutus simply wouldn’t be out of place. I mean, isn’t every street in Vienna just begging to be pirouetted on?
You might remember my last blog, all about the Parisian ballet school and their glorious pink tutus. And yes, I snagged a new, oh-so-soft pink tutu - perfect for waltzing in the Viennese streets! I've got a little secret, though, it's a bit of a gamble... this week I'm going to try and do something daring... dare I say it... ballet-themed street style in the centre of Vienna. Fingers crossed!
Now, let’s be honest, there’s something truly magical about Vienna. From its towering palaces and majestic gardens, to the cobblestone streets that whisper with history, the whole place feels like it’s waltzing to its own melody. It’s the kind of city that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale, except with less scary woodland creatures (although those would make for some interesting street style!).
But let’s talk about the reason why I’m here: ballet, glorious ballet! I simply cannot get enough of it. You all know my obsession with ballet history, right? From the elegant ballet flats worn by Marie Antoinette (seriously, you have to see the ones they have in the Versailles palace!) to the intricate tutu designs of the 19th century, every era has its own story to tell, and its own graceful legacy to carry on.
This week, I’m thrilled to be attending a performance at the Vienna State Opera itself! The thought of seeing these masterful ballet stories come to life in such a magnificent venue is making my heart leap. And yes, I shall be dressed in pink, naturally. I'm talking about the perfect shade, my readers... a ballerina-blush pink. This is no ordinary pink; it's a celebration of grace, beauty, and feminine strength. Because yes, I wear my pink with purpose.
And speaking of strength, have you ever felt the rush of energy that comes with a perfectly executed pirouette? That feeling of grace, poise, and controlled power, it’s addictive, really. But ballet is more than just fancy steps and dazzling costumes, it's about dedication, discipline, and the sheer joy of movement. So here's to all the ballerinas out there - may your jumps be high and your spins be ever graceful.
This week in Vienna has also included some rather wonderful discoveries. From the stunning architecture of the Hofburg Palace to the mesmerizing art collection at the Museum of Art History, this city is overflowing with beauty and intrigue. I've also stumbled upon some truly charming vintage stores and cafes where I've been indulging in endless cups of frothy hot chocolate. The Vienna coffee culture, by the way, is quite something – they take their coffee seriously here, as seriously as I take my tutu!
Speaking of tutus, there’s been a delightful little surprise, my dearest readers. Remember that vintage store I told you about? Well, they had this exquisite vintage tutu! It’s ivory with delicate lace, and let me tell you, it’s the most perfect little twirling dress you could ever imagine. Honestly, I'm obsessed!
Of course, my adventures in Vienna are always punctuated by delicious food. The city is a gastronomic dream, full of warm pastries, creamy schnitzel, and rich, comforting soups.
And then there are the Viennese horses. I have a weakness for horses, it's the same love I have for ballet! There is a true connection to tradition and grace. And you can't miss a ride through the imperial city, in a carriage drawn by the magnificent lipizzaner stallions! Trust me, it's a feeling that will transport you to a different era.
Now, let me share a little secret with you, my darling readers... my next week's post is a real treat. I'm going to show you a ballet class in Vienna! We’ll be discussing the most enchanting ballet studios and schools, and even experiencing a little pirouette ourselves (or maybe a graceful prance is more my style at this stage!) Stay tuned, dear friends!
So until next week, darling readers,
Twirl on!
Yours in Pink,
Emma x
