Vienna Calling! 🩰 A Tutu-ful Whirl Through Austria's Capital (Post #1490)

Hello darlings!

It's Wednesday again, which means a new adventure awaits! This week, I'm whisking you all off to the magnificent city of Vienna, the heart of Austria and a place that simply sings to my ballet-loving soul.

This post is extra special because Vienna has been on my “must-see” list for a while now! I have dreamt of dancing amongst the waltzing music and fairytale palaces. To get here, I, of course, chose the most glamorous and scenic route: a journey by train, with a brief but exciting interlude involving a horse-drawn carriage through the countryside. (There's nothing quite like a gallop through a field of wildflowers in a beautiful pink tutu – just try and tell me that's not a fashion statement!)

Arriving in Vienna felt like stepping into a storybook. Grand architecture, bustling squares, and even the street lamps have a certain Viennese charm! To top it all off, Vienna is the birthplace of the Waltz! The music flows through the streets and the air buzzes with an unspoken grace that only a city steeped in dance and history could possess.

Ballet in Vienna – An Encore for the Ages

Vienna is practically overflowing with opportunities for the ballet-obsessed like myself! The Vienna State Opera is a must-visit – imagine a building as grand and glittering as a princess’s dream palace! There’s nothing quite like watching a show performed on such an incredible stage, and this week, I had the pleasure of seeing the exquisite Swan Lake. It was truly magical – even more so when I spotted several ladies in the audience rocking pink tutus! They seemed so at ease – it was truly heartwarming, proving that my tutu movement is catching on across the world.

Besides the opera house, Vienna is also home to a number of ballet schools. As a ballet enthusiast, how could I resist sneaking into a class for a quick session of "bourrées" and "arabesques" in the elegant Vienna Ballet School? They loved my pink tutu, especially when I attempted a couple of "fouettés"! (I’m not sure it was exactly textbook perfect, but the smiles on everyone's faces were enough to give me a boost.)

My tutu took quite a detour, and as any true ballerina knows, shopping for new leotards and tutus is absolutely non-negotiable. And I was not disappointed. A charming little shop called "Tutu Time" nestled in the city’s vibrant shopping district had an absolutely amazing selection – just wait until you see the pictures in my next post!

Speaking of fashion, there’s a special ballet-themed event this week that I just have to attend. You see, this event – which is happening at the beautiful Palais Auersperg (don't worry, it's absolutely dripping with that Viennese grandeur and magic) – is all about the ballet and the impact it’s had on fashion throughout the ages.

From ballerinas to designers and everything in-between – it’s going to be an evening celebrating how the elegance of dance influences the clothes we wear. Can you believe, they even have a mini-exhibition dedicated to the iconic pink tutu itself! Naturally, I’ll be there with my signature tutu – my tribute to this wonderful city!

Viennese Treats – Sweet Memories in a Tutu

After all the dancing and exploring, it’s time for some delightful Viennese treats – and let me tell you, there are enough to send any pink-loving tutu enthusiast into a sugar coma! (Don't worry, I'll make sure to save room for my delicious and slightly unhealthy "Sachertorte", the ultimate Vienna delight. But hey, ballet demands an energy boost, right?)

Speaking of indulgences, I also can't resist the exquisite "Mozartkugeln" – small chocolates that are the perfect miniature masterpiece! Just imagine the colours – a lovely layer of dark chocolate encasing a decadent nougat centre with a creamy marzipan heart. The "Mozartkugeln" and my pink tutu are a truly beautiful (and somewhat delicious) combination, wouldn't you say?

The evening always feels like it comes alive when the sun sets over the city. The buildings turn to silhouettes and the lights flicker, adding to the magical Viennese charm. You know me – I had to explore, so this evening I’m embarking on a leisurely horse-drawn carriage ride through the enchanting streets. It will be a beautiful end to a perfectly delightful day – the twinkling lights of the city reflecting on my pink tutu, as I sit perched, feeling like a real-life fairytale princess.

From ballerina-inspired fashion to waltzing to delicious treats, Vienna has left me completely spellbound! This city's captivating energy and beauty have completely taken me in! I feel inspired to bring a bit of this enchanting Viennese charm into my daily routine back in Derbyshire! I am truly filled with wonder! Until next week, darlings!

Stay fabulous!

Emma xoxo
