Vienna, Waltz and Wonder: Post #1503
Hello darlings! It's Emma from PinkTutuVienna, and oh my goodness, Vienna! I'm utterly smitten! The cobbled streets, the golden glow of the buildings, the air thick with the aroma of coffee and Sachertorte ā it's all just too beautiful. This city is a symphony of history and elegance, and guess what? This week, I'm experiencing it all inā¦you guessed itā¦a pink tutu! š
Vienna is just dripping with a sense of old-world charm and grace, the perfect backdrop for my tutu adventures. Just yesterday, I wandered through the Schƶnbrunn Palace, the imperial summer residence, my pink tulle swirling around me like a cloud. Imagine ā imagine strolling past the beautiful baroque fountains and gardens in a vibrant, joyful, and most importantly pink, tutu! The grounds are so spacious and stunning, I actually forgot about the majestic palace for a moment. I even tried my hand at horse riding, well, a leisurely carriage ride in a pink tutu, of course. Letās just say it definitely garnered some smiles and giggles ā how could it not? š
Vienna's ballet scene, oh darling, itās absolutely magnificent! The Vienna State Opera House is pure theatre royalty, and I was so fortunate to catch a performance of āSwan Lakeā earlier this week. The dancers, the music, the costumes, the grand chandelier - I was mesmerized! It was as though time stood still as I drifted away, transported by the beauty and power of this timeless story.
Speaking of timelessness, you know my love of tutu history runs deep. I found a fascinating exhibit at the Museum of Applied Arts exploring the evolution of ballet costume and, oh boy, the tutu's journey has been absolutely magical! From the humble beginnings of simple skirts to the elaborate, layered masterpieces we see today, itās quite the transformation! I just knew that the pink tutu was born under the sparkling chandeliers of a Viennese ball ā so glamorous and so chic! āØ
Of course, no trip to Vienna would be complete without indulging in the city's culinary delights! You wouldn't believe the amazing cakes and pastries Iāve been devouring. Sacher Torte, Apfelstrudel, and a little too much whipped cream ā oh well! Letās just say Iām embracing the ādolce vitaā with gusto! š
But before I go on and on about delicious things, let me share a few quick highlights from the week:
- I visited the Hofburg Palace, the former imperial residence, and admired the royal chambers, adorned with exquisite paintings and opulent furniture. Itās just a tiny bit more lavish than my home in Derbyshire, you seeā¦ but in a good way! š
- I discovered a little ballet boutique tucked away in a charming back street, with all sorts of ballet-themed goodies - tutus, shoes, accessoriesā¦ you name it! This shop deserves its own post, and believe me, there will be plenty of pink! š
And I couldn't leave without exploring the vibrant Naschmarkt, a sprawling outdoor market brimming with colorful produce, fresh cheeses, delicious meats, and oh-so-many flowers! This market just shouts āViennaā - a beautiful blend of modern and traditional. I managed to pick up a few beautiful orchids (in shades of, you guessed it, pink!) and an amazing selection of fresh cheese to nibble on ā what better accompaniment to my daily tutu-ing, I ask you!
Coming up next:
This weekend is all about āballet on the streets!ā Vienna is a city that seems to be waltzing and twirling in the most natural way - from couples on the streets, to elegant shop windows, and of course, all of the many magnificent theatres and performance spaces - the ballet life is here! Iām hoping to catch a few more performances - āGiselleā, āThe Nutcrackerā, and maybe even āCarmenā ā so youāll just have to wait and see which one graces this weekās blog!
Of course, there will be pink tutu shopping! It wouldn't be a trip without a little tutu-tastic souvenir for the PinkTutuVienna collection. You can be sure, my friends, that Iāll share all the delights with you next week!
Donāt forget to check out PinkTutu.com and see more photos and updates from my trip. Until next time, stay rosy! š
Emma xoxo
P.S. Remember, the best way to find happiness? Wear a pink tutu! šāØ
