Vienna has an air of grandeur about it, like stepping out of a fairytale, with its grand palaces, sweeping avenues, and the gentle melody of Viennese waltzes filling the air. This is truly a city that knows how to celebrate elegance, and it makes my pink-loving heart flutter with pure delight!
The Grand Ballet Adventure Begins
My journey here was, as always, an adventure! I travelled from Derbyshire on a classic crimson train, stopping at picturesque villages, sipping fragrant tea, and feeling every sway of the carriages as we raced across the continent. I had to make sure I wore my pink tulle-trimmed traveling hat - the ultimate fashion statement for a travelling tutu-wearing ballerina, donāt you think?
The moment I arrived in Vienna, it was as if Iād stumbled upon a stage set from a Mozart opera! I couldn't help but twirl along the cobbled streets, marveling at the architectural wonders. The streets were abuzz with performers and tourists, the air a delicious blend of Viennese pastries and street musicians playing Strauss waltzes.
I decided to start my Vienna escapade with a ballet class, so I found myself in the grand salon of the Hofburg Palace, one of Vienna's most spectacular landmarks. There I joined a class of dedicated ballet students, all clad in chic dance attire. It was like a scene from an old ballet movie - very enchanting, the kind that always features a very pink ballerina!
The dance studio was a space brimming with energy and history. The grand ballroom felt full of memories, and I couldn't help but imagine ballerinas gliding across its polished floor centuries ago. The feeling of dancing on such historic ground made me feel incredibly special.
An Enchanting Journey Through History and Tutus
After my ballet class, I set off to explore the city, starting at the Imperial Theatre (or "Theater an der Wien" as the Viennese call it). I was enthralled by its dramatic facade, grand halls and the sheer weight of its theatrical history!
Speaking of history, Vienna's connection to the history of ballet is simply mesmerizing! The first official ballet school was founded here in 1713 by Emperor Charles VI, just a year before he brought in the famous dancer, Marie Salle, and you can almost imagine the city buzzing with excitement! This history, this incredible heritage, surrounds you everywhere in Vienna. I just had to soak it all in!
From the State Opera to the Musikverein - Viennaās concert hall which houses the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra - I took a trip down memory lane, stepping into the grand foyers, marvelling at the stunning chandeliers, and envisioning ballerinas twirling and taking their bows. Itās these grand theatres, these incredible historical buildings that set Vienna apart! There's a magical energy here!

And now, Iām back to the real reason why Iām in Vienna - to perform at the cityās most beautiful theatre! I was thrilled to receive a special invite to perform at the Vienna State Opera tonight! Iāve had a wonderful opportunity to perform a short but spectacular piece with a stunning cast.
I danced beneath the gleaming chandeliers and swirling clouds of light, every movement echoing with the passion and romance that are the soul of Vienna. It was an experience I will never forget, and the audience was spellbound! Of course, no ballet experience would be complete without the joy of sharing a sumptuous, lavish post-show dinner with fellow dancers in a nearby cafe - all amidst the joyous whispers of Viennese waltzes. It truly felt like an ethereal dream!
