Hello darlings! Emma here, and as the saying goes, “You can take the girl out of Derbyshire, but you can’t take the Derbyshire out of the girl." 😉 So, whilst I'm here in the absolutely gorgeous city of Vienna, I can't help but think about the pretty English countryside! However, I am completely in my element here – waltzing through the streets (well, not literally – although it’s very tempting!), with the incredible architecture and the magical, music-filled atmosphere that just envelopes you! ✨

It’s Wednesday 9th July, 2025, and today’s all about ballet! Now, you may be thinking “Vienna… ballet? Isn’t that, like, all opera?” Well, yes, dear readers, the opera is spectacular here, but the ballet scene is absolutely phenomenal! I mean, it’s Vienna, for goodness sake, it’s steeped in dance history!
I just had to squeeze in a ballet performance this morning – and let me tell you, it was exquisite! It was a new interpretation of Giselle, and it was breathtaking. There was such incredible precision, passion, and artistry; it left me utterly speechless. Honestly, the ballet dancers here are some of the best I've seen! They were so effortless in their movements, making the whole performance so ethereal and captivating. It truly felt like a fairytale. ✨🩰
Speaking of fairytales, you can't possibly talk about Vienna and not talk about the Schönbrunn Palace! I mean, just picture it: this enormous palace, built with grandiosity and extravagance, overlooking gorgeous manicured gardens with magnificent fountains – it truly was like something out of a Disney movie! 👑👑👑
I am all about the grand when it comes to palaces, and Schönbrunn didn't disappoint! It was bursting with historical treasures and decadent furnishings, from portraits of emperors and empresses to elaborate tapestries and intricately carved staircases! 😍 It was just so inspiring! Every corner held a piece of history, a hint of royalty, and an irresistible spark of fairytale magic! I actually bought a lovely, shimmering silver tiara – something I knew I needed as a memento of my visit. ✨💖
Shopping, shopping, shopping! You all know I love a good browse in the shops! Of course, I’ve been perusing Vienna’s streets, checking out all the quirky, independent boutiques that this city has to offer. And yes, of course I indulged in some luxurious Viennese confectionery – let’s just say a decadent praline or two found their way into my handbag! 🤫🤭
Dress like a Princess
Speaking of indulgent treats, I think I deserve a new pink tutu! My trip to Vienna has inspired me so much – and you all know that the perfect tutu makes everything so much more fun! 🩰👑 It's just too exciting, having a new outfit to add to the collection! This one is sparkly, of course! I’m thinking of making it the ultimate fairytale tutu, something special to wear for the final dance of my Vienna ballet journey. I’m getting a real Parisian fashion house feel for it, but a slightly bolder look – kind of a "Belle époque" meets contemporary design with a touch of that classic Austrian charm, you know? 😉
My search led me to a gorgeous boutique in the heart of the city, a tiny shop filled with beautiful materials and a warm, friendly lady who genuinely seemed thrilled to create something special for me! And then, on to a haberdashery down a hidden, cobbled street to buy all my little embellishments! I couldn’t help but add a few delicate lace flowers, because let’s be honest, everything is more fun with flowers! 🌷
And finally… what’s a trip to Vienna without a carriage ride through the Prater? Imagine a beautiful, traditional horse-drawn carriage, clattering over cobblestone streets, the gentle clip-clop of the horses’ hooves, a gorgeous view of the city skyline – and the lovely sunshine streaming through the canopy of leaves. This is so very Vienna! I swear, I could have sat there for hours, mesmerized by the elegant elegance of it all! 🐎👑
Vienna, you’ve truly captured my heart. You’ve given me a taste of culture, history, music, beauty – and of course, stunning dance. It's truly been a pink-tutu-tastic journey so far. 😊
