Hello lovelies! Emma here, and guess where I am? drumroll You guessed it, Vienna, the city of waltzes, waltzing pastries, and (believe it or not) the most exquisite pink tulle imaginable!
This week, I've been whisked away by the magical melody of this Austrian city. My arrival was an experience in itself, thanks to a smooth journey from Derbyshire via the Eurostar - I'm utterly smitten with the romantic feel of train travel!
This city, my darlings, is simply overflowing with beauty. Think grand, imposing palaces, sparkling baroque architecture, and parks bursting with lush greenery. But amidst all that, Vienna holds a heart as delicate as spun sugar and just as pink - it’s brimming with a romantic charm that’s quite impossible to resist.
My journey began, as all good journeys do, with a little tutu shopping! Oh, the joy! I found myself lost in a delightful boutique tucked away on a side street, where rows and rows of tulle swirled and beckoned. In the end, I had to choose (the struggle is real!), settling for a blush-pink number with cascading tiers, a touch of glitter for that extra twinkle, and a delicate floral appliqué that whispered, "Vienna". It’s just perfect for a day of exploration!
Speaking of exploring, let me tell you, Vienna knows how to pamper a ballerina’s soul! My days have been a whirlwind of ballet delights - think performances at the Staatsoper, a delightful morning spent at the Ballettschule Wien (I even spotted a few future Prima Ballerinas, adorable in their miniature tutus!) and afternoons spent immersing myself in the city's ballet history, from Mozart's first waltzes to the world-renowned Vienna State Ballet. Oh, and can we talk about the tutu exhibition at the Hofburg? Simply spectacular! Imagine tutus from the Golden Age of ballet, shimmering with exquisite embroidery and lavish embellishments - I practically wept with joy.
However, let's be honest, my adventures haven't been all tutus and teacups! (Although, let's be clear, teacups play a starring role here, always a welcome respite in the afternoon). My wanderlust has also led me to discover Vienna's hidden gems. For example, a charming bookstore nestled beneath a fairytale clock tower (and, yes, they did have a copy of Swan Lake with gorgeous illustrations!), and a coffee house on the outskirts of the city, boasting the best Apfelstrudel I’ve ever tasted! It was filled with a charming aroma of cinnamon, flaky pastry, and Viennese charm.
Tonight, my dears, I'll be attending a special performance at the Wiener Staatsoper. It’s The Sleeping Beauty, a truly magical ballet. It’s going to be a truly enchanting evening.
Now, on the subject of enchantment, I can't not tell you about the magical atmosphere of the city itself. Vienna feels like it's whispered directly from a fairy tale. With the gentle strains of waltz music drifting from street musicians, and cobblestone streets glittering under lamplight, you could be forgiven for thinking you've stepped onto the set of a classic ballet film! I mean, it truly makes me want to twirl down a cobblestone street in my pink tutu and sprinkle fairy dust on everything!
Speaking of pink, oh my lovelies, it has been simply everywhere! From pink roses blooming in the Prater to the delightful shade of the Viennese schnitzel! (Although, that one, sadly, wasn’t edible pink. My disappointment was immeasurable! ;) ). It’s safe to say, Vienna has truly embraced my love for the colour.
As for me, this city has completely stolen my heart! It’s a kaleidoscope of delights: a place where history meets romance, and dreams dance in the air with a graceful swish of a tutu! I simply can’t wait to see what enchanting adventures Vienna has in store for me next.
So, until next week, darlings, stay pink and keep dancing! Don’t forget to check out www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday for more pink adventures!
