This week has been all about waltzing through history, shopping until I dropped, and savouring the city's vibrant ballet scene – naturally all while twirling in my favourite pink tutu!
The Waltz of a Lifetime
As you all know, Vienna is synonymous with the waltz. The city that birthed this iconic dance is a waltz lover's paradise. I was absolutely giddy to attend the Vienna State Opera's "Rosenkavalier" performance. The opulence! The costumes! The drama! My pink tutu fit right in amidst the swirling gowns and elegant gentlemen. Afterwards, we took a leisurely stroll through the Prater, Vienna's iconic amusement park, reminiscing about the performance and indulging in classic Viennese delicacies. Let's just say the strudel lived up to its hype!
Fashion Finds & Tutu Delights
What’s a #PinkTutuVienna blog without a touch of fashion? I discovered the most delightful boutique on Graben, a street known for its exquisite craftsmanship and high-end designers. Imagine my glee when I stumbled upon the perfect accessory – a hand-beaded, fuchsia tulle stole. I felt like a princess stepping out of a fairytale! Naturally, I had to document this magnificent find on my Instagram with the hashtag #TutuChic. I’m now dreaming of my next outfit – perhaps a floor-length gown in the softest shade of pink with my tutu over it? My darling readers, tell me your thoughts!
Whirlwind of History
The beauty of Vienna isn't just in its charming cobblestone streets and palaces. It's also woven into its fascinating history. We ventured to the Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the Habsburg emperors. Walking through the grand halls, imagining royal figures waltzing across these very floors, was simply awe-inspiring! A delightful highlight was a visit to the Hofburg Palace and the imperial treasury. Talk about sparkling treasures! Dance Through the Streets
Speaking of tutus, this week was a whirlwind of ballet! I enjoyed the most delightful ballet class in a stunning, light-filled studio overlooking the city. And on Friday evening, we took in a performance at the Vienna State Ballet – breathtaking! It's amazing how dancers can tell so much through their movement and the subtle nuances of their choreography. It truly inspires me. I even witnessed a captivating ballet performance in the street – street artists, yes, but with exceptional skill! The ballerina in me was swooning. And you know what? I may have even tempted her to try out a little pink tutu – she looked absolutely divine!
Back on Track
Speaking of travel, this past weekend was a delightful journey through the picturesque Austrian countryside. A scenic train ride with views of rolling hills and snow-capped peaks brought me to Salzburg – Mozart's birthplace! There I indulged in a hearty, local lunch in a charming, traditional restaurant. Let's just say, I left with a full belly and an appreciation for the simple pleasures in life.
This beautiful journey wouldn't have been possible without my love for dance. My performances provide me with the means to explore the world. It truly makes me happy to share this with you all. My travels often take me to fascinating destinations where I discover new ballet forms, different cultural interpretations, and enchanting venues. The ballet world is an endless source of inspiration for my adventures in pink tutus!
