Vienna Calling! Post #1637

Dearest Tutu-lovers!

It's Wednesday, and you know what that means! It's time for another Pink Tutu Vienna blog post, direct from the heart of the Austrian capital. Oh, Vienna, how I adore you! This city is practically built for a pink-tutu-wearing ballerina! The waltzes, the grandeur, the delicious pastries…it's all so inspiring.

Now, let's talk about how I got here! Did you know that this week I’ve been travelling around Europe by train? My latest adventure started in beautiful, bustling, Paris - a real playground for pink-tutu fashion, if you ask me. I took the TGV – what an elegant experience, gliding through the French countryside! And you know, the TGV itself seemed to enjoy my presence. The conductors were absolutely charming, especially one gentleman who did a little bow as I hopped off at the Gare de l’Est – oh la la!

Then, my lovely travelling companion - let’s call him Pierre - and I, made our way through Germany. This was actually a brand new journey for me - my very first foray into the heartland of sausage and lederhosen. I loved the old, enchanting towns we saw - so full of history and charm, just waiting for me to pop out in a pink tutu for some impromptu photos! And the people! Just delightful! I received so many smiles and appreciative nods – they obviously appreciate a fine ballerina on their tracks!

We arrived in Vienna on Monday and oh my, the waltz is calling! Vienna, my goodness, this city is alive with music and grace! I spent yesterday indulging in a glorious Viennese Waltz lesson in a magnificent ballroom with towering windows, shimmering chandeliers, and an air of refined elegance. You'd have thought I'd been transported into one of the elegant balls of yore! It wasn’t quite Downton Abbey, but I felt so glamorous twirling in my pale pink tutu amidst such a stunning atmosphere.

Speaking of elegance, Vienna is a haven for the lovers of the beautiful things in life. From the grand architecture and sweeping avenues to the stunning array of museums, art galleries, and concert halls, every corner seems to whisper "refined elegance!" We found a beautiful antique shop this morning and Pierre almost made me leave with a miniature, but oh-so-detailed, ceramic dancing horse! He swore it would look "perfect" in my ballet studio at home… But, you know me, my collection has enough tiny dancing horses!

Of course, my arrival in Vienna had to involve a quick peek at their world-famous ballet, the Vienna State Opera! Oh, to dance on such a stage! The costumes, the drama, the passion... all just magnificent. Let me tell you, it made me itch for the theatre, to hear the cheers of the crowd, and feel the thrill of dancing under the stage lights! And it gave me some real inspiration for my upcoming ballet performance in Derbyshire!

And while we’re on the topic of Derbyshire, can we talk about those wonderful ponies! I'm making my way there by horse, a little trot through the Derbyshire countryside – an adventure worthy of any ballerina's journey! There’s nothing more majestic than gliding through rolling fields and hedgerows on the back of a beautiful steed - especially when I can take the perfect tutu-clad photo! Did I mention I got my hair done at the stables? Hair done, pink tutu on…you really can’t beat this lifestyle!

Now, I just have to tell you about my shopping expedition yesterday! I discovered a little, independent boutique overflowing with vintage clothes and exquisite, hand-made ballet shoes! And they were the softest, most gorgeous shade of pink, just the perfect color for my wardrobe! Oh, it felt so amazing, like my love for vintage fashion and my passion for the elegance of dance intertwined! I can't wait to incorporate these little beauties into my next performance.

So, that's where I am this Wednesday! Vienna - a city that stole my heart! What else can I tell you about Vienna? Well, the food is phenomenal, especially the schnitzel - my tummy has not stopped indulging! There's a sense of history in every corner. But it’s not stuck in the past! Vienna's embracing modernity, while still cherishing its elegant heritage. I’m even trying to convince my lovely companion Pierre to join me for a Waltz lesson at one of those outdoor ballrooms they have – wouldn't that be the perfect picture?!

So, darlings, remember to be adventurous and enjoy life in the beautiful tutu! Don’t be afraid to express yourselves with colour! You never know where a simple pink tutu can take you… Perhaps even to Vienna!

Lots of love, and remember:

Be bold, be bright, and most importantly, *be pink!*

Emma xoxo
