Hello my darling tutu enthusiasts! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina, Emma, and this week I’m whisked away to the heart of Europe - Vienna, Austria! My suitcase overflows with tulle and tiaras (pink ones, of course!), ready for a whirl of waltz and history, all punctuated by the delicate clicks of my ballet shoes.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Vienna?! But that's a symphony city! What about the tutus?” Trust me, dear friends, Vienna is a treasure trove for a ballerina! This grand city, bathed in golden sunlight and cobbled streets, pulsates with the spirit of waltzes and emperors, which are music to a ballerina’s ears.
I arrived on Tuesday, after a gloriously scenic train ride from the charming Italian city of Venice, where I even rode a horse and carriage! Now, I know a lot of people say the “Pink Tutu Queen” would be in her element at a ballet, but there’s something quite magical about being swept through cobbled streets in a horsedrawn carriage, surrounded by beautiful architecture. I’ve always been a lover of both history and dance – you could say I’m quite the romantic, ha!
Vienna's Tutu Symphony:
As the sun set over the Danube, casting a blush of pink (how perfect!) on the historic buildings, I settled into a performance of the Vienna Philharmonic. Honestly, darling, you’d think I was transported straight to the opera in The Nutcracker. The music was absolutely breathtaking. It had such elegance and grandeur, perfectly complimenting the ballet’s elegance. This is why Vienna holds such a special place in the hearts of dancers worldwide – it truly understands the symphony of art and movement.
Tutu Trends:
While in Vienna, my hunt for ballet and fashion inspiration is absolutely fierce. On Wednesday, I strolled through the trendy boutiques on Kärntner Straße, the main shopping street. Can we talk about the fabulous window displays?! I practically drooled at the sight of shimmering evening gowns and intricate designer tutus, my little pink tutu heart thrumming with joy. I even snagged a stunning velvet hair ribbon with a subtle touch of pink to complete my look.
Of course, darling, no trip to Vienna would be complete without a stop at the Hofburg Palace, a magnificent building that was once the home of the Habsburg emperors. Imagine the royal balls, the glittering tutus, the majestic waltzes! This palace holds centuries of history and dancing, making it an essential stop for any tutu lover like myself.
Wednesday - An Artful Day of Whimsy
Today was an artistic affair! In the morning, I indulged my love of all things ballet with a session at Vienna’s Staatsoper Ballet School, one of the most prestigious ballet academies in the world! Even watching the talented young dancers rehearse for their upcoming performance filled me with awe. The dedication and precision were incredible. I even learned some new ballet steps! Well, let’s just say I attempted to learn new ballet steps. Haha!
My afternoon was spent at the MuseumsQuartier, a vibrant hub for modern art and architecture. I marveled at the abstract paintings and the captivating sculptures – all a delightful symphony of color and form. You see, dear readers, beauty and creativity are all intertwined. Art isn’t limited to tutus and ballet steps, but rather something that we can find everywhere.
Dancing Towards Thursday
And as Wednesday winds down, I’m excited for Thursday. Tomorrow, I'll explore Vienna’s iconic Schonbrunn Palace. A true royal palace with all the regality that I’m here to experience. Afternoons are for leisurely strolls along the romantic banks of the Danube. As I write this, the sky is transforming into a vibrant palette of pink and orange, painting a scene that is so beautiful, so Vienna!
Speaking of pink, don't forget to share your pink tutu moments with me! Send in photos of yourself twirling in a pink tutu and don’t forget to tag your post with #PinkTutuVienna! It is always such a joy to see my fellow tutu-loving souls spreading their love for dance, fashion, and most importantly, the wonderous world of pink tutus!
Now, I need to get my ballerina's sleep! Tomorrow is a day full of exciting discoveries! Until next Wednesday, dear readers!
Much love,
Emma
