Oh, Vienna, how I adore you! My heart is aflutter as I sit in my chic little hotel room, gazing out the window at the majestic St. Stephen's Cathedral. This is my third time in this glorious city, and I'm absolutely smitten. Every corner whispers of waltzes, pastries, and the most charming history you could imagine. I'm here for a whirlwind week, squeezing in as much ballet, shopping, and sightseeing as possible. I'm also keeping a watchful eye out for some vintage treasures for my wardrobe – tutus are definitely on my shopping list!
This week has been a particularly busy one, filled with dancing, dazzling fashion, and a trip that I shall never forget. It all started with a performance last Friday night – The Sleeping Beauty at the Vienna State Opera. Imagine my delight at being able to perform on that legendary stage! The audience was mesmerized, and I felt absolutely incredible in my specially designed tutu – a dazzling creation of pink tulle and glittering sequins. It was the perfect way to kick off my Vienna adventures.
Of course, no trip to Vienna would be complete without a visit to the Schönbrunn Palace. Imagine my thrill when I learned that they have a magnificent carriage collection – carriages fit for royalty! It was truly a vision of splendour and history. My darling friend Lily, the very talented seamstress and tutu designer, gifted me the most charming horse-riding outfit – a gorgeous pale pink jodhpur and a top adorned with tiny, glittering pink ballet shoes. Naturally, I was determined to wear it and pose amongst these historical carriages! The setting was breathtaking, and Lily captured some gorgeous photographs, perfect for sharing with you lovely readers! (See below – I can’t wait to see what you all think!)
Another highlight was my trip to the Hofburg Palace. The former Habsburg imperial residence has a remarkable history, and I must confess, I couldn't help but be transported to a time of grand balls and elaborate court rituals. The Emperor's Apartments are a must-see, particularly the Silver Collection – sparkling jewels and glittering silverware. A dazzling sight indeed, worthy of a princess. And of course, there was a delicious cafe nearby – Cafe Demel, the palace bakery – with mouth-watering pastries that I simply couldn't resist.
Oh, my dear readers, I have been so busy! Today, Wednesday, was an especially packed day, but I just had to get out and enjoy the beautiful winter sun in Vienna. I started with a lovely walk around the charming Prater amusement park. The iconic Ferris wheel – Vienna’s largest – loomed high above the park, like a magical beacon. The snow glistened on the surrounding trees, and the entire area felt utterly charming. I also popped into the newly opened "Wiener Riesenrad" gift shop, where I found the perfect little ballerina music box. You know how much I love these!
And now for some of my very favourite Vienna moments:
Dancing Under the Stars: A visit to Vienna wouldn’t be complete without a little waltzing, would it? Last night, I joined a group of dancers for a lesson under the twinkling stars at the Winter Night Ball – the atmosphere was electric! The music, the movement, the elegant outfits – it was a magical experience. I have to confess that I struggled a little at first (my feet have been yearning for ballet shoes, my darling readers, it is true!) but after a little practice, I found myself waltzing gracefully, surrounded by my fellow dancers. The experience, well, I can’t quite describe it – pure, pure magic.
Tutu Boutique Discoveries: You simply must check out the "Blumen Shoppe", nestled within a picturesque side street. They carry the most beautiful, feminine accessories – hats, hair clips, shoes – I have even found several charming pieces to complement my tutus, perfectly suited to Vienna’s enchanting style.
Art Nouveau Splendour: Yesterday afternoon, I fell head over heels for the Secession Building. I felt like I had stumbled into a whimsical fairy tale, surrounded by swirling Art Nouveau designs. The mosaics on the facade are simply divine – such intricate and elaborate patterns. Oh, how I wish I could have stayed longer, to soak in the architectural magic.
Horse Drawn Elegance: For my trip back from the Prater, I opted for the traditional horse-drawn carriage – I truly do enjoy my trips in elegant fashion. The coach was painted a delightful cream and pink colour, a hue perfectly suited to my pink-tutu world. As I trotted through the streets, I felt like I was travelling through time.

My Pink Tutu Pick for the Day: It had to be the most exquisite shade of pink – the very same shade that my friend Lily and I used for our stunningly gorgeous “Belle Rose” tutu, worn for The Sleeping Beauty ballet. It was the very shade that reminded me of that magical night on stage. So of course, a blush-pink ballet-inspired hat is the perfect accessory, and a perfect touch for my walk through Vienna today. And naturally, my darling pink tutus have been with me, just waiting for the perfect Vienna opportunity. Perhaps a whimsical waltzing shot for you readers, or a waltz by the magical Prater?
But, alas, the end of the day is drawing near, and so is my departure, as I leave to spend time at my dear cousin’s in England. She just happens to be the perfect place to start planning my next exciting trip, so expect many new pink tutus, new locations, and plenty more adventures coming your way soon!
