Hello my darling tutu-loving friends! ? It’s Emma here, and I’m positively bursting with excitement to tell you all about my adventures in the enchanting city of Vienna! As you know, my life is a beautiful ballet of travel, tutus, and a whole lot of pink – and Vienna has definitely stepped up to the barre in all these departments. ?
Wednesday 24th March dawned bright and beautiful, and the train from Prague (a city I could spend weeks exploring – think historical castles, yummy cakes and even more pink tutus, darling!) deposited me right in the heart of the Austrian capital. After a whirlwind of checking in to my beautiful pink-hued hotel room, I knew there was only one way to celebrate arriving in this city of classical music, art, and all things dreamy – a stroll through the majestic Hofburg Palace!
The Imperial Palace, with its gold-dusted history, was positively spellbinding! Imagine waltzing through these magnificent halls, feeling like royalty. I had a feeling I was meant to be a princess, darling! ✨ As I wandered, I couldn’t resist a bit of a twirl in my pink tutu – it seemed to perfectly echo the grandeur of the surroundings.
Ballet is my passion, and after soaking up some royal history, I just had to catch a show at the Vienna State Opera House - and oh my, it was absolutely breathtaking! Imagine towering ceilings adorned with opulent chandeliers, elegant balconies, and the most talented ballet dancers swirling across the stage. I was utterly enchanted, especially by the story they told with their elegant movements and expressive faces. It’s almost as if the whole world is silent except for the beautiful sound of the dancers’ graceful movements.
Speaking of elegance, let’s talk fashion, darling! Vienna's boutiques are an absolute delight! From vintage treasures in hidden alleyways to chic designer stores on the famous Kärntner Strasse, my shoe-shopping bag is bursting (as is my credit card, darling!). ? It seems every shop window in Vienna is overflowing with the latest trends. However, it's a “less is more” vibe here. The outfits were chic but wearable, sophisticated and a little bit avant-garde – I simply adore the way Viennese ladies layer delicate lace over simple knitwear, and that classic elegance that goes hand in hand with the city's graceful waltzes! And did I mention the gorgeous hats? There’s just something about a perfectly crafted hat that elevates any look – and these Viennese ladies really know how to do it right!
Naturally, I had to make a trip to the Museum of Art History for a dose of cultural indulgence. This grand building was brimming with beautiful sculptures and paintings by masters like Michelangelo and Raphael. Their artistic brilliance was simply astounding, and it left me in a state of artistic bliss – you know, like a pink tutu twirling in the air with grace and abandon! ✨
One thing you learn quickly when exploring Vienna is that the best way to get around is by horse-drawn carriage. A trip along the Ringstraße, Vienna’s grand boulevard, in a luxurious horse-drawn carriage was a true highlight. Imagine yourself as a belle of the ball, your pink tutu swirling gently around you, as you glide past elegant buildings and parks - pure romantic bliss, darling!
This magnificent city definitely deserves more than just a weekend. I’m already planning a return trip with more pink tutus and lots of ballet-related activities! I know there are a million hidden treasures waiting to be discovered, like the Spanish Riding School with its majestic Lipizzaner horses, the Schönbrunn Palace, and of course, more fantastic ballet performances. And maybe even a waltzing session, too! ?
And of course, you know what comes next, don’t you? My tutu-clad explorations wouldn’t be complete without the ultimate Viennese treat - a visit to Café Sacher! The original Sachertorte – a divine chocolate cake - is simply a MUST try in Vienna. And with a delicate dusting of powdered sugar, well, that’s a touch of pink magic I can’t resist! ?
