Pink Tutu Vienna: Blog Post #1690 - Waltz into Vienna!

Hello my darling tutu twirlers! It’s Emma, your favourite pink-clad ballerina, writing to you live from the magical city of Vienna! I’ve just stepped off a beautiful, old-fashioned train, the kind with the plush seats and rattling windows that whisk you back in time. They don't make them like that in Derbyshire, that’s for sure. And honestly, I can’t get over how utterly fabulous it is here in Vienna. Everything is a bit more sophisticated, a bit more... "je ne sais quoi."

This week's adventure marks a bit of a homecoming for me, as you know. I've been fascinated by Vienna and its waltzing history since I was a little girl, pirouetting around in my own pink tulle masterpiece. There’s something so elegant and enchanting about this city – like a storybook brought to life.

Now, for those of you who don’t know (but where have you been?), Vienna is the heart of classical music. It's the home of Mozart, Beethoven, and Strauss, just to name a few! That alone was enough to make me pack my favourite pink tutu, grab my dance shoes and leap onto that train! It's also the birthplace of the waltz, which you all know, is my absolute favourite dance move. Honestly, just thinking about spinning around in a glittering ballgown in a ballroom filled with waltzing couples makes my tutu spin!

And Vienna is brimming with ballet, darling! From grand performances at the Vienna State Opera to intimate shows at the Theater an der Wien, I’m spoilt for choice!

My ballet journey in Vienna begins on the 22nd of September, and trust me, I’m not holding back! This evening, I’m taking in the ballet at the Vienna State Opera House. It’s a new production of Swan Lake, and I’m absolutely bursting with excitement! Just imagine, tutus of white swan elegance and dramatic black swan grace… Oh, it’s all just too exciting! I might even get a glimpse of some stunning historical costumes - Vienna’s famous Hofburg Palace houses a truly captivating collection of fashion, ballet, and opera treasures.

Speaking of fashion, the vintage scene here in Vienna is truly exceptional. I just know I’ll be finding some fabulous additions to my tutu wardrobe. I already spied a shop brimming with 1950s silk skirts and some seriously pretty floral print tops that would look positively divine with my favourite pink tutu. Imagine, me twirling down the streets of Vienna, a touch of modern elegance with a splash of vibrant pink, all against a backdrop of historical architecture… Pure ballet magic!

And how could I not mention the delicious pastries? I mean, honestly, they practically melt in your mouth, so beautifully delicate and rich – like the most delectable dessert ever dreamed up. And with a Viennese coffee to sip, it’s just about the most perfectly decadent treat a ballerina could ask for.

You can just imagine me, can't you? In my favourite pink tutu, coffee in one hand, a decadent pastry in the other, skipping through Vienna's gorgeous parks, stopping to admire the architectural marvels.

But my darling tutu twirlers, I’m not just about ballet and pastries, even if Vienna makes it difficult to think about anything else! Tomorrow, I'm planning a special journey. I've booked a ride in a horse-drawn carriage, and honestly, I can’t wait. Can you imagine the romance? A graceful, elegant carriage pulled by powerful horses, my favourite pink tutu shimmering in the sunshine – what more could a girl ask for? I’ll be sure to tell you all about it!

For now, though, I’m off to practice my pirouettes in anticipation of the ballet! Don't forget to check back next week for a detailed report from my time at the opera, darling! And until next Wednesday, keep twirling!

With love and twirls,

Emma
