Pink Tutu Vienna: Whirlwind Waltz in the City of Waltz (Post #1752)

Hello my dearest tutu twirlers! It's Emma, your resident Pink Tutu aficionado, reporting live from Vienna, the glorious City of Waltz! As you know, Wednesdays are for Vienna on my website, and I am thrilled to share my adventures with you this week.

Now, I know some of you might think a tutu-loving, pink-obsessed gal like me would feel a little out of place in Vienna, but let me tell you, the Viennese have a real appreciation for the whimsical! And besides, tutus and waltz music go together like…well, like waltzing partners! They just make each other sparkle!

Speaking of sparkles, the city itself is positively dazzling. I’m staying in a charming little hotel near the Vienna State Opera House. Just walking through the city centre feels like stepping onto a grand stage!

And oh, my darling tutu lovers! What I have discovered! There is a fabulous museum, right around the corner, called the "History of Dance and Costumes" and guess what, they have the most amazing collection of tutus! I'm talking tutus from ballet classics like Swan Lake, Giselle and Sleeping Beauty, tutus from the Bolshoi, the Mariinsky, and even some tutus from Vienna’s very own Staatsoper, my heart simply fluttered when I saw those!

Naturally, I had to get a picture in every single one. I might have even tried to twirl in a few…don’t judge! The history of dance and costume design is fascinating. Who knew tutus went back to the 1700s? They are so much more than a little bit of tulle!

The museum also had an exhibit on the evolution of fashion in Vienna, and let me tell you, the Viennese ladies have always known how to make an entrance! My, the elegant dresses, the elaborate hats, and those gloves! Talk about an accessory game! I couldn’t help myself; I brought a new pair of gloves home with me! Pink of course.

The past few days have been a whirlwind of culture and sightseeing. We explored the Schönbrunn Palace, took a horse-drawn carriage ride through the city centre, and enjoyed the most delectable cakes and pastries you can imagine. Vienna is such a city for the senses!

This week's performances included a visit to the Staatsoper for a mesmerizing performance of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. It was such an experience! I nearly cried! I couldn't help but marvel at the elegance and athleticism of the dancers. The beautiful costumes, the music, the emotion - the entire performance was so breathtaking! It truly transported me to a world of wonder!

Of course, I also took in a show at the Volksoper. And the magic wasn’t over there! A phenomenal production of The Nutcracker! So many sparkles, a little girl who danced like an absolute dream, and even a chance for me to finally meet Clara! I gave her a little Pink Tutu charm from my own collection – she loved it! She even told me that I was her favourite ballerina. What a lovely compliment from such a talented young dancer.

After the shows, naturally, it was time to explore Vienna’s incredible fashion scene! And let me tell you, the shops here are divine! I found some truly exquisite pink accessories and, of course, some incredible tutu-inspired creations. My pink wardrobe is absolutely overflowing right now. There was this divine vintage pink hat, a hand-beaded pink evening bag, and let’s not forget about this magnificent pair of pink heels. The Viennese love their pink, darling. And so do I!

And now for the biggest news, this week I met an absolutely lovely woman in a café – she runs a pink tutu store on the corner of Graben Street. The woman was the kindest soul, I could not have been more thrilled to finally have met someone with a pink tutu obsession just like my own! She even helped me find the most delightful little pink tulle-covered table to share coffee with her. It was pure girly magic.

As the week comes to a close, I’m already brimming with anticipation for the adventures that await. This magical city is full of surprises and delights, and I'm just getting started exploring it!

So, to my fellow tutu twirlers, embrace your inner sparkle and let your spirit soar! Until next week, from the pink-filled streets of Vienna!

Love,

Emma xx
