Pink Tutu Vienna - Blog Post 1758: Waltz of the Whimsical!

Wednesday, 10th January 2029

Hello my darling tutu twirlers! Emma here, broadcasting live from Vienna, the city of waltzes, chocolate cake, and yes, you guessed it…pink tutus! ??

This week, as I sit here sipping a warming cup of Austrian spiced apple tea, I feel a rush of pure joy, and I wanted to share it with you. You see, I’m completely besotted with this city! Every cobbled street, every Baroque palace, every twinkling coffee house… it all just screams ‘ballet’ to me! The romance, the grandeur, the beauty… it’s enough to make a girl want to pirouette in the middle of Stephansplatz, pink tutu and all! (But let’s keep that little fantasy to ourselves, shall we?)

As you know, my journey to Vienna was a rather whimsical one – a train journey from Prague, which, let me tell you, was like stepping straight into a fairy tale. The snowy landscapes, the quaint little towns whizzing by… I even had a friendly chat with a lady dressed in a rather exquisite vintage pink tutu – imagine! It was just delightful!

Vienna has definitely been fulfilling my artistic heart, from the captivating ballet at the Vienna State Opera to the incredible street performances at the MuseumsQuartier. Every corner I turn offers a new visual delight, and the architecture… oh, the architecture! I feel like I’ve been transported into a gilded ballet box. It’s truly magical.

And the food! Let's just say, the pastries are almost as delightful as the waltzes! ?☕️ This weekend I’m treating myself to a truly decadent chocolate Sachertorte and then I’m heading to the Vienna State Opera to see “Swan Lake” in all its glory! It’s the perfect end to my Vienna journey so far.

Speaking of journeys, darling, remember how I said my trip was a ‘whimsical’ one? Well, I might be about to share something a little unusual! Remember those old family tales from Derbyshire about “the way of the travelling horses?” Well, that’s something I’ve always felt a bit drawn to, so… guess what! I booked a horse-drawn carriage tour around the city! Just imagine: Me in my little pink tutu, a feathered hat and a charming driver! I’m just dying to see Vienna in a completely different way. I mean, have you ever travelled by horse-drawn carriage in your pink tutu? If not, then I strongly suggest you give it a go – it’s a memory you’ll never forget! ?

As I’m sure you know, I’m all about sharing my passion for ballet, and the story behind it. So let me share a little secret of Vienna with you. It has such an incredible ballet history! You’d be amazed at how much of ballet’s ‘Golden Age’ came from this very city! I even popped into the National Library, which boasts a massive collection of historical dance books! And trust me, they’re not just history - they’re actual treasures. Imagine a book from the 18th century about the ‘correct way to perform a grand jeté’. Pure magic, darling!

On to the sartorial delights…

My trip to Vienna wouldn’t be complete without a little retail therapy, would it? Oh darling, I've discovered the most exquisite vintage shop – overflowing with stunning fabrics, sequins and feathers! I'm already imagining a pink tutu with a delicate layer of tulle and pearl beading! The possibilities are simply endless! I'll keep you all updated on my findings! You know, sometimes a bit of vintage sparkle can make a girl feel truly special… ?

Well, darlings, I must away now! Vienna is calling!

And to all you pink tutu dreamers out there – remember: there's a magical dance in every city waiting to be discovered. Just follow your heart, twirl with confidence, and let the world know: Pink tutus rule!

Lots of love,

Emma ??
