Oh, darling! Vienna, how you’ve stolen my heart! It's Wednesday, the 24th of January, 2029, and the snow is swirling outside, giving the city a magical, fairytale air. Just perfect for a little pink tutu adventure, wouldn't you agree?
I arrived yesterday, hopping off the train at the majestic Wien Hauptbahnhof station feeling like a princess straight out of a Strauss operetta. As you know, train travel is my absolute favourite way to get around – something about the rhythmic clacking of the wheels and the changing scenery just inspires me! I even snuck a quick ballet session in the carriage, using my trusty travel tutu – you'd be surprised how much room you have in first class, darling! ?
Now, before I delve into all the exquisite delights Vienna has to offer, let's chat tutus! Of course, I couldn't possibly step off the train without the perfect attire – a delicate confection of pale pink tulle, adorned with sparkling Swarovski crystals. It practically begged to twirl under the elegant archways of the station, and I indulged, darling, I absolutely indulged!
This city, my dears, is a wonderland for ballet lovers. Just imagine! The Vienna State Opera, the Vienna Philharmonic, and a ballet academy bursting with talent - what's not to adore?
Last night, I had the absolute honour of attending a performance of Swan Lake at the magnificent Vienna State Opera House. Oh, the grandeur of it all! The golden interior, the plush velvet seats, the palpable excitement in the air - I was transported to a world of ethereal grace and poignant beauty.
The ballerina playing Odette, oh, she was a dream! The way she moved with such fluid grace, transforming from a graceful swan to a heartbroken maiden in the blink of an eye, left me utterly spellbound. My heart skipped a beat, tears welled up in my eyes, and I just had to capture it all in a whirl of my own pink tutu.
Today, I plan on taking a masterclass at the Vienna State Opera Ballet School – a chance to learn from the masters! Imagine! Me, twirling and pirouetting alongside some of the most talented dancers in the world. I'm quite excited, and, of course, I'm bringing my pinkest tutu along – it's always a conversation starter, darling!
While I'm on a bit of a ballet binge, I haven't forgotten about the delightful fashion scene here in Vienna! Tomorrow, I'm taking a leisurely stroll along the elegant streets of the city centre, hitting all the best vintage stores and boutique ateliers. Who knows what treasures I might discover? I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a new addition to my growing pink tutu collection - a luxurious silk number with feathers and pearls, perhaps? The possibilities are endless!
And what about food, darling? Let's be honest, even ballerinas need to fuel their pirouettes! Today, I'm planning to try one of Vienna’s famous Sachertortes - that rich chocolate cake with apricot jam - followed by a visit to the stunning Schönbrunn Palace gardens, to catch some fresh air and admire the exquisite blooms. I hear there are rumours of a magnificent ball being held in the palace tonight…
But alas, I mustn't forget about my most important task: spreading the pink tutu love! Today, I’m heading to a local park with my portable ballet barre – maybe I'll entice a few fellow Vienna locals into a little tutu twirling fun! It’s all about embracing the joy of movement, expressing yourself, and bringing a dash of sparkle to the world.
Until next week, my dears! Don’t forget to subscribe to my website, www.pink-tutu.com, and keep an eye out for my weekly Wednesday updates. And please, tell me - what’s your favourite shade of pink?
Keep twirling and spreading joy,
Emma xx
