Hello darlings! It’s Wednesday, the day for a little bit of Pink Tutu magic from your favourite ballet-loving blogger, Emma! This week, I'm whisking you off to Vienna, the City of Music, waltzing around its stunning architecture, and swooning over all things ballerina!
As always, this week's journey started with a rather enchanting train journey from Derbyshire. (Now, I love train travel. There's just something magical about the chugging of the train engine, the rhythmic clickety-clack of the tracks, and of course, the opportunity for an impromptu fashion show in the carriage – all done in a very elegant and understated way, of course! This time, I went for my dusty rose tutu paired with a shimmering emerald top – a little something for my fellow passengers to gaze at while we zipped through the Austrian countryside. The view was just as beautiful, rolling hills dusted with emerald and buttercup yellow fields under a sky so blue, it was almost unbelievable!
Finally arriving in Vienna, the city that oozes sophistication and grandeur, I was ready for a whirlwind of Viennese charm!
Ballet Beyond Belief! The reason I was in Vienna? You guessed it – ballet! This week, I had the honour of seeing a performance by the Vienna State Opera Ballet. You know, you go to these beautiful, historic places, and you think the theatre will be stunning. And let me tell you, Vienna State Opera did not disappoint.
The grand entrance, the plush red velvet seats, the glittering chandeliers – the atmosphere just hummed with anticipation. I settled into my seat, wearing a powder pink tulle tutu with a black sequined top for a touch of drama. And as the curtains rose, the music filled the hall – the symphony played, and the dancers flew across the stage with such grace and power. It was captivating, inspiring – an emotional rollercoaster of sheer beauty. The artistry of the ballet world never ceases to amaze me.
Afterwards, of course, I had to check out the shops. A good fashion find always brings a ballerina back down to earth! The first stop, my darlings, was "Die Garderobe". This gorgeous store had such a stylish selection, but I just couldn't resist a pale pink top with whimsical embroidery, and, you guessed it – a sparkly new pink tulle tutu for my next performance. I simply can't help myself!
Did you know? Vienna is a city where fashion is absolutely king. The Viennese people are always impeccably dressed. It's an atmosphere of elegant style, sophistication, and, dare I say, a hint of fairytale. Oh, the outfits! They just float by, whispering secrets of a magical world, each a tiny little masterpiece. No wonder Vienna is famous for its fashion houses and high-end boutiques! I love to blend into this beautiful landscape, finding my own fashion voice within this amazing city.
The Horse and Carriage CharmThe next day, it was time to step back in time! A visit to Schönbrunn Palace was in order. I have to tell you – it is so opulent and stunning. Walking through the vast gardens, feeling the history of each corner of the palace, you can't help but get a glimpse into another time. I found myself wandering through the flower gardens and the gorgeous, baroque architecture, the sun shimmering on the leaves, and everything just a little bit magical.
But for my journey around Schönbrunn, I decided on a horse and carriage ride, something incredibly charming. It was a real-life fairytale. Riding through the royal grounds, past beautiful buildings, with gentle horses pulling the carriage – oh, it's like stepping straight out of a romantic novel! The driver, dressed in a beautiful traditional outfit, seemed to blend perfectly with the palace's charm and made me feel like a princess for the afternoon.
I even took my favourite tutu along for the ride. Because why not add a little sprinkle of pink to the beauty of the day?
Ballet on Every Street Corner! After all this grand adventure, I wanted to share a little secret with you: in Vienna, there is something special that is just about impossible to escape, something that oozes from every street corner – music. Vienna has such a magical energy. The music floats through the air like magic, weaving its way through the cobblestone streets, across grand piazzas, into historic cafes. I swear you can hear it everywhere you go – from classical concerts, operettas, and street musicians to just the simple sound of a violin wafting out from a nearby window. It's breathtaking!
To enjoy it fully, I found the perfect way to relax - by taking a walk down the cobblestone streets, letting the melodies and rhythm fill me with a kind of happy energy. I always bring my ballet shoes for just such an occasion. If I feel a song tugging at me, I can't help but stop and pirouette in a side street – spreading the joy of ballet wherever I go, one twirl at a time.
I have to tell you, this journey has left me feeling truly inspired. It's no wonder Vienna is called the City of Music. The magic is everywhere - it seeps into every corner of your being, lifting your spirit. And if you can take a trip to this wondrous city, it's a must-visit destination for every ballet lover, for every person seeking a bit of enchantment in the everyday world!
Until next week, my dear friends. Keep twirling, keep sparkling!
With Love, Emma
