Hello lovelies! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means? It's time for another Pink Tutu Vienna post! ??
This week, I'm bouncing with excitement because I'm actually writing to you from the heart of Vienna itself! Austria, oh Austria! I've been dreaming of this trip for ages, and it's finally here, a tutu-tastic dream come true!
My journey began in the most romantic way imaginable, of course. A carriage ride from my hotel in the heart of the city to the Hauptbahnhof - Vienna's magnificent central station. This grand dame of a building was a vision in itself, all echoing arches, opulent chandeliers, and a whiff of Viennese coffee and pastries in the air. I may or may not have had a quick waltz around the concourse with a handsome Austrian gentleman - all in the spirit of the city, you see. ?
Once at the station, it was all aboard the gleaming train that would take me to the grand Palais Garnier. Now, my dears, let me tell you - a train journey in Europe is always an adventure! Picture plush seats, gentle rocking, views flitting by, and a charming conductor in a crisp uniform. Not to mention the opportunity to showcase my latest Pink Tutu travel outfit, a tutu-inspired vintage skirt with a silky, blush-pink top. Of course, my trusty travel pink tutu bag, brimming with essential pink accessories, was by my side!
Speaking of accessories, a journey to Vienna wouldn't be complete without some divine shopping! After all, it's the home of the famous "Wienerwald", and where else would a girl find exquisite hand-painted china teacups that match my new floral print tutu dress?! I indulged in a bit of delightful window-shopping before reaching the majestic Palais Garnier, feeling a little like a princess from a fairytale (pink tutu included, naturally).
The Garnier Opera House - simply breathtaking! Imagine vaulted ceilings, velvet-lined boxes, gilded detailing, and a stage designed to inspire awe. They say this palace of art was the brainchild of the emperor himself, Napoleon III. It seems he knew a thing or two about elegance! And they were putting on Giselle, my all-time favourite ballet!
Oh, darling! Giselle, a tragic love story set in the heart of the Rhineland. It has everything: ghostly forest spirits, forbidden love, heartbreak, and just the right amount of magical realism. ? It was pure bliss watching those incredible dancers. Every step, every gesture, every expression told a story. A ballerina named Anya stole the show as Giselle, she moved like a dream. And as the music flowed, I was transported to a world where fairies dance in moonlit forests, and the power of love can transcend even death itself.
The audience was absolutely mesmerized! I felt an incredible sense of shared wonder, like everyone in that theatre had travelled to another world for the night. I swear, even the plush velvet seats themselves seemed to sigh with satisfaction as the last notes faded away. And when the applause thundered, you could almost hear the entire Garnier sighing, “Bravo! Bravo!”.
Afterwards, my friend who lives in Vienna joined me for dinner, and we shared the story of the night while tucking into a heavenly Austrian pastry. I am absolutely going back, there are still more theaters, castles, and gardens I must see.
This isn't just about ballet, darling. It’s about feeling alive, expressing myself, and sharing my passion with the world. And in Vienna, surrounded by all this artistic energy, it just feels even more powerful.
Now, I have to get ready for tomorrow's adventure. Vienna is filled with secret gardens, beautiful old churches, and incredible shops for finding unique gifts. I can't wait to share more with you, darling, in next week's blog!
See you back here same time next Wednesday!
Your ever-optimistic Pink Tutu traveller,
Emma x
