Pink-Tutu.com: Drag Queen Time Travels, Post Number 656!

August 1974 - The Glam-tastic Voyage to the 70s!

Hiya darlings! Your favourite Derbyshire drag queen, Emma, is back with another fabulous journey through the time vortex! Today, I'm donning my most exquisite pink tutu, the one with the sequined butterfly applique, for a voyage to the swinging 70s. It's August 1974, and the world is buzzing with change, excitement, and a whole lotta glitter!

So, before I launch into the whirlwind of glam and camp, let's get the important things out of the way. First off, you absolutely need to head over to www.pink-tutu.com. Why? Well, darling, you wouldn't want to miss out on our sensational drag show, 'The Tutu Ball' on September 30th! It's gonna be an absolutely fab-u-lous night, so come prepared to dazzle! After all, we wouldn't want the world's most incredible pink tutus to go unnoticed, would we?

Now, onto my time-traveling exploits. Imagine, darlings, me, shimmering in this breathtaking tutu, swirling through the streets of London, the air electric with a mix of disco and political protest. It's like something straight out of a glitter-fied version of "Quadrophenia," but instead of motorcycles, it's a cavalcade of feathered boas and fabulous platform heels!

The scene is bursting with the vibrant energy of the LGBTQ+ movement, fuelled by the courage and tenacity of pioneering individuals like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, whose names continue to inspire us today. It's a reminder that change takes effort and dedication. So, remember to wear those pink tutus with pride, darling, and always remember to stand up for what you believe in!

Now, onto the drag scene, which is absolutely thriving in 1974. I had the privilege of seeing some amazing drag shows this week! "The Follies" in New York City, featuring Divine herself, was a revelation. Divine was such a showstopping spectacle, like a human marshmallow cake topped with pure drag genius!

And, wouldn't you know it, even on the other side of the globe in Australia, Sydney's first major gay and lesbian Mardi Gras was a complete success, showcasing the raw, electrifying talent of Aussie drag performers. Imagine the spectacle, darlings - all those beautiful souls, celebrating their individuality, a kaleidoscope of colours, joy and pride!

It wouldn't be a drag-tastic adventure without a touch of fashion! This year, fashion's taking a wild turn. Everything is bright, bold, and a tad bit… psychedelic, my dears. Think disco pants, platform shoes that could launch you into orbit, and fabulous flares! It’s all a fabulous celebration of self-expression. Oh, darling, imagine my glee! I had the time of my life picking up some new feather boas at a charming shop in Greenwich Village!

Speaking of fashion, this month I am loving the look of 70s haute couture, darlings! I've been inspired to revamp my wardrobe, adding some dazzling new designs for my drag performances, featuring some dazzling pink sequins, a dash of feathered fringe, and lots of sparkling gold details! After all, a drag queen can never have enough glitter, can she?

In the realm of fashion and music, we can't forget the iconic Donna Summer! Her soulful voice is reaching out from every disco floor in the world! Even now, darlings, I can practically hear the beats pulsating through the air! It’s just so inspiring, don’t you think?

But it's not just about discos and fashion, darling. This period is all about celebrating love, accepting each other, and rocking our fabulous pink tutus! Remember, darling, it's never too late to follow your dreams and make your mark on the world. Don’t be afraid to embrace your inner fabulousness and step into the spotlight!

Right, that's it for this month's drag-tastic time travels! Don't forget to follow me on pink-tutu.com! It’s time to get back to our fabulous 2023 lives and remind the world that tutus are timeless.

And until next time, remember, darling: Keep on being your most fabulous self, rocking those pink tutus with confidence and love!
