Post 1111: Tutu Time Travels! πŸ‘  🩰 A July Jaunt Through Drag History

Helloooo darlings! Your favourite tutu-tastic time traveller Emma is back, and this month, I've dipped my toes into the drag-tastic waters of July 2012! You wouldn't BELIEVE what a fabulous time I had, and as always, I'm here to spill the tea - and darling, it's steaming!

This time, I donned my sparkly pink time-travelling tutu, (seriously, you HAVE to see it!) and set my sights on the vibrant world of drag in July 2012. It was like a glamorous trip through a time capsule filled with sequins, glitter, and enough hairspray to drown a small village!

New York City was buzzing with drag magic! The iconic Wigstock, the festival celebrating drag's queer creativity and fabulousness, was in full swing! I felt like a giddy schoolgirl amidst a rainbow of tutus, sequins, and feather boas! Divine!

Over at The Stonewall Inn, a legendary bar that's practically dripping in LGBTQ history, drag royalty like Lady Bunny and Miss Fame were ruling the roost! The energy was electric, the laughter infectious, and the shade? Sharp enough to cut through a sequined frock!

California was living its best life too! The Hollywood drag scene was as glam as you could imagine! The Drag Queen of the Year competition was drawing crowds with its high-energy performances and dazzling looks. Just picture fierce, talented queens battling it out in a sea of bright lights and swooning audiences.

Even my little hometown of Derbyshire wasn't left out of the drag fun! I popped by the local drag club, The Rainbow Tavern, where the atmosphere was hot, the music was hotter, and the queens were hotter still! It was pure drag-tastic bliss!

You see, July 2012 was just brimming with drag excitement! The whole world seemed to be swept up in this kaleidoscope of vibrant colours, outrageous fashion, and audacious performance! And of course, I wasn't going to let a fabulous month like this pass me by without taking full advantage!

A Drag Fashion Feast πŸ‘—

One of the most exciting things about this journey through time was exploring the world of drag fashion in 2012. It was like stepping into a whirlwind of bold, colourful, and utterly outrageous outfits!

Imagine this: sequined leotards shimmering under spotlight, feather boas cascading down like glittering waterfalls, and headpieces so elaborate, they’d make a peacock envious! The queens were really outdoing themselves, and their looks were an explosion of creativity, pushing the boundaries of drag style with a fearless confidence!

Remember that rainbow wig that stole my heart last month? In 2012, the wigs were getting even more adventurous, bolder, and bigger! Think bouffant styles, bold colours, and ingenious combinations of texture. And let's not forget the makeup! From ultra-sharp cat-eye liner to bold eye shadows, queens were experimenting with vibrant looks, bringing a whole new level of fierce and fabulous to the drag stage.

My Shopping Spree! πŸ›οΈ

You know I can't visit a different era without doing a little retail therapy! πŸ›οΈ I went shopping at vintage clothing stores in the Village (which is a whole other adventure in itself), where I snagged some fabulously glitzy costumes from the era, and believe me, you will be seeing those rocking my next performances!

You guys know I love tutus, and 2012 seemed to share my love! From sparkly dance tutus in vibrant shades to custom-made, bejeweled beauties, I had a hard time deciding what to take home! I snagged a few that would perfectly match my new collection of 2012 drag queen gear!

Drag Shows: Where the Magic Happens! 🎀

Naturally, I had to see a few drag shows! And oh my, did those queens deliver! From high-energy musical performances to laugh-out-loud comedic routines, every show was a whirlwind of entertainment. It's a testament to the incredible talent of drag artists and their ability to captivate audiences.

One show in particular, "A Drag Ball: 2012,'' was the kind of experience that will stay with me forever! It was a breathtaking showcase of creativity and talent! I remember this fierce, dazzling, larger-than-life performance! The crowd went wild. The energy was electric! It's the perfect way to illustrate the transformative magic of drag.

I can't tell you what it was about 2012, maybe the air was thicker with magic! But, for me, it felt like an era when drag was really starting to come into its own!

Finding Your Inner Queen: πŸ‘Έ

Every trip I take inspires me! This journey in July 2012 has reinforced my mission: to share the infectious joy of drag and inspire everyone to unleash their inner queen. I'm not asking everyone to start wearing a pink tutu... (although wouldn't that be just fabulous?)! But embrace the boldness of expressing yourself freely. Find your own way to sparkle, to be unique, and to make your own fabulous statement.

Who knows? You might find that within you lies a secret drag queen just waiting to step onto the stage, unleash her dazzling confidence, and sashay her way into the world. Maybe it's time to dip your toes into the magical world of drag - maybe even slip into a pink tutu - and experience a truly liberating sense of self-expression.

That's all for now darlings, but you know, your fabulous Emma will be back next month for another extraordinary time travel adventure through the colourful and chaotic world of drag! Remember, stay sparkling, stay fabulous, and don't forget to subscribe to www.pink-tutu.com for my monthly blog posts! You can always find me at the Rainbow Tavern if you fancy popping in for a cheeky drag performance or two!
