Post #1123: A Drag Queen's Time Travel Adventure Through the World of Drag - July 2013

Darling! You won't believe this month's time travel tale, pet. You know how much I love my pink tutus, right? Well, my darlings, this time travel adventure was absolutely tutu-rific! We're going right back to July 2013, and trust me, this is a month for the history books, honey!

First of all, let's chat fashion, darlings! Remember when the 90s decided they were cool again? I'm talking those fabulous crop tops and high-waisted jeans, a look that could easily be incorporated into any drag queen's repertoire. And don't get me started on the glitter โ€“ it was like everyone went mad and showered the world in sparkly goodness! Now, let's be honest, my dear, drag always knows how to bring the glitz, but 2013 had that extra somethin' somethin' that I just can't get enough of!

And what was happening in the world of drag, you ask? Well, darlings, July 2013 saw the beginning of some truly iconic moments. Remember the legendary RuPaul's Drag Race? We were still buzzing from Season 5, where Jinkx Monsoon, the amazing Queen of Quirky, sashayed away with the crown. Oh, the artistry and talent of that season!

And while Jinkx was taking the world by storm, another icon was making waves โ€“ the one, the only, Bianca Del Rio. This fierce and fabulous queen was releasing her comedy special, "Rolodex of Hate", and boy oh boy, was it a smash! We're talking biting social commentary and killer humour. I even popped my time-travelling tutu into a theater to watch the live performance - absolute perfection!

Now, let's go to the big city! You see, New York was already a hotbed of drag in 2013, but that summer they threw a DRAG WORLD conference. Let me tell you, honey, that was huge! I remember dancing the night away with queens from every corner of the globe, all united in our passion for drag and all adorned in fabulous pink tutus, of course.

And wouldn't you know it, darlings, right there in July 2013, another magical moment occurred - the launch of a certain social media platform dedicated to sharing fabulous drag queen moments โ€“ the one and only Instagram! From that point on, queens could connect, share their work, and become stars. Oh, the insta-fabulousness!

And, as I often tell you, darling, no journey through drag history is complete without a bit of Derbyshire goodness. Let me tell you, this corner of the UK had more drag performances than you could shake a glittery feather boa at.

This is why I travel through time, my dears. To remind everyone just how glorious the world of drag is, and just how wonderful it is to share our passion, celebrate our talent, and express ourselves through performance, fashion, and love, all with a touch of pink tutu magic.

Stay fabulous and don't forget to join me on www.pink-tutu.com every month for another dazzling dose of Drag Queen Time Travel!

Keep spreading that pink tutu love, darlings!

Your queen on a mission,

Emma x
