#DragQueenHistory: December 2015 – Pink Tutu Time Travel, Episode #1152!

Oh, darling, it’s December already? It feels like only yesterday we were rocking those sparkly rainbow sashes for Pride. But you know what? This girl is ready to rock another month, another trip through time! This month, my fabulous time-traveling tutu is taking us right back to December 2015 and – well, you might wanna grab a sparkly tiara for this one, darlings, because we are in for a treat!

Now, before we hop into that time-traveling pink cloud (courtesy of my darling tutu, of course!), let's get the kettle on and have a little chinwag.

So, I'm Emma, your gal from Derbyshire, and as you all know, I've been hooked on drag since I was just a wee girl (although my first outfit was a rather rough pink and orange combo - let's just say I've come a long way since then!). My passion for all things drag has me obsessed with its history, its power, and its sheer magic. And that's why I started this here blog - so I could share the magic with the whole world and, of course, encourage everyone to get those pink tutus on!

Now, how did this fashion-obsessed ballerina queen manage to land a gig traveling through time, you ask? Well, darling, you know I don't reveal my secrets - not even to the fanciest queen in the House of Couture! Let's just say my pink tutu has a bit of a sparkle, if you catch my drift. πŸ˜‰

Now, with that bit of juicy gossip out of the way, let’s fast-forward to December 2015, shall we?

A Queen of Tastes for All Times

Oh, darlings, let me tell you, this time I landed right smack-dab in the middle of a glittering London drag night! Now, every girl in this dazzling club was working that look, from the fierce club kids to the glamorous divas! The stage was lit, the energy was buzzing, and you couldn't move for fabulously dressed performers strutting their stuff, dazzling the crowd with every dance move and shimmy!

Now, darling, you know this gal loves a good show. I found myself completely entranced by the fierce charisma of the queen taking center stage! Her movements were elegant, sharp, and playful all at once – she owned the stage. I watched, awestruck, as she wove a story of strength, sass, and pure joy with each song and pose.

This, darling, is the kind of magic only drag can create!

And don't even get me started on the fabulous outfits! This month, sequins and sparkle were in abundance - but the real highlight for me was seeing that vintage-inspired flair so prevalent in 2015 drag. Those classic silhouettes and bright colors, all done up with modern twists and contemporary touches – it was absolutely divine!

Of course, it wouldn't be a true drag experience without some sparkling behind-the-scenes antics. While waiting in line for a fabulous cup of tea (yes, darlings, even back then we queens had to stay hydrated!), I got chatting to some absolute sweethearts in the queue – they were some of the local Drag Mothers, legends in their own right, full of stories and wisdom from decades of slaying.

It was like sitting with the elders of a glamorous cult – each shared anecdote about the scene was more legendary than the last. They talked about the clubs, the venues, the challenges, and the sheer, unadulterated joy of expressing themselves through drag!

And that's what makes drag so extraordinary, darling! It's a place for everyone, a place to find your own tribe, and to truly let yourself shine – whether that's on the stage or just out in the world, strutting your stuff!

From London's Underground to the World

But, darling, our journey doesn't end with just London! December 2015 was bursting with exciting developments in the world of drag!

In America, a brand new TV series was taking the nation by storm – RuPaul's Drag Race (remember those early days? Well, they've come a long way, haven't they?). It was already captivating audiences with its drama, its hilarious humor, and, most importantly, its showcasing of so many incredibly talented, diverse drag queens. I remember how thrilled I was to finally get a glimpse into the US drag scene and see all these fabulous characters expressing their unique identities and sharing their stories.

Now, I know this is what some of you lovely blog readers have been eagerly waiting for – what was going on with the world-famous Drag Race franchise in December 2015?

The Big, Pink (and Blue) One

You've heard of RuPaul's Drag Race, haven't you, darling? Well, it turns out Season 7 was in full swing! I loved that season. It felt like such a moment for drag! It showcased a lot of iconic drag queens (we all loved a little Violet Chachki and her stunning vintage flair, right?). I even went back and watched the entire season in a single weekend, you can just imagine me in my little pink tutu and slippers, frantically scribbling down dragspiration notes!

The queens were fierce, they were funny, and they brought a new wave of fabulousness to drag on the main stage! It wasn't just about fashion or performance; it was about stories, identity, and, most importantly, the sheer joy of being yourself!

The highlight of December for me, though? It was the legendary Violet Chachki being crowned the Season 7 winner at the finale! Yes, darlings! She took home that dazzling crown – and absolutely deserved it, too. Her glamour, her showmanship, and her unique sense of style (remember the unforgettable space queen look from that finale? Well, that's drag queen history!).

The Pinkest Party in the World!

The power of RuPaul's Drag Race in December 2015 was a powerful message to the world: drag is everywhere. Drag isn’t just about nightlife or shows. It’s about creativity, expression, and breaking down boundaries.

This is exactly why my heart is in sharing the stories of drag through my Pink Tutu Time Travels, darling! I want to share this magical world of glitz, glamour, and infinitely fabulous performances.

And with that, darlings, let’s end this fabulous journey.

Now, I must dash! I’ve got a show to catch - and of course, a brand new, sparkly pink tutu waiting to be adorned!

As for you, my darlings, I want you all to get ready to rock that pink tutu! And until next time, keep shining bright.

Love and glitter,

Emma
