Pink-Tutu Post #1158: June 2016 - Oh, the Places We'll Go (in Pink!)

Hello, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller, Emma, and welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! This month, I'm taking you on a whirlwind journey through June 2016 - a time of glittery highs and sassy lows!

Now, I know what you're thinking - why June 2016? Well, lovelies, I've got a secret - it was the month I accidentally landed in Paris whilst wearing my brand new lavender-sequined pink tutu! Talk about a fashion statement! And that's what this journey's all about - discovering how the fabulous world of drag was blooming in every corner of the globe. Let's grab some bubbly (and a sprinkle of glitter!) and dive in...

Paris, oh Paris: I landed in a flurry of sequins and feather boas, smack-dab in the heart of Paris during its Printemps des Arts festival. Can you imagine? My tiny tutu wasn't even half as fabulous as the outfits strutting the stage! It was a dazzling kaleidoscope of colours and styles - fierce femmes, camp queens, and even a couple of drag kings in their prime. I felt like a little ballerina twirling in a giant glitterbomb. The energy was electric, the performances divine, and the crowd - ooh la la - absolutely swooned!

Back in the UK, the Big Drag News:

June 2016 - it's a drag history moment that you lot won't forget! This month, the incredible RuPaul's Drag Race (you know, the show that's a national treasure) premiered its Eighth Season! The queens were fierce, the looks were breathtaking, and the competition was as sharp as a pair of Jimmy Choos. This season truly showcased the phenomenal talents and diversity of our community. Let's hear it for Bob the Drag Queen, Naomi Smalls, and Kim Chi - they absolutely slayed!

Meanwhile, in my own Derbyshire - bless the county! - The Drag Ball, held in Derby itself, was in full swing. Think glamour, think sassy dance routines, think more sequins than you've ever seen! This fabulous annual event celebrates the joy and power of drag - the ultimate drag party!

Oh, the places we go!:

My travels in June weren't just confined to Europe! My magical pink tutu carried me to the USA, to experience the raw and authentic drag scenes bubbling up across the nation. Wigstock, a festival of creativity and inclusivity in New York City, was an absolute spectacle! Drag queens from all walks of life poured their souls and stories into the stage, celebrating diversity and celebrating being utterly, gloriously themselves.

It wasn't all Broadway glitter and stage lights. I stumbled upon hidden gems - drag bars tucked away in tiny towns, buzzing with local queens serving fierce looks and fabulous energy. Remember - drag isn't about a grand stage, it's about the passion that burns bright within every drag queen, in every corner of the world!

Shopping Spree!: I wouldn't be true to my fabulous pink tutu-wearing self without a shopping spree in the fashion capitals of the world! Paris, of course, was the ultimate drag-inspired haven. From chic vintage shops filled with dazzling ostrich feather boas to Parisian boutiques brimming with statement-making couture dresses - every single item was begging to be twirled on stage! I bought enough feather boas for every single drag queen in my village back in Derbyshire, and you better believe those girls were jealous!

The Time-Traveling Tip!

June 2016 was truly a magical time to be a drag queen! Whether it was on stage, behind the scenes, or in the hustle and bustle of a city street, the energy and joy of drag were contagious.

And to my fellow drag enthusiasts, never stop exploring the endless possibilities of drag. It's more than just glitter and costumes - it's a powerful language that can speak volumes about who we are, where we come from, and where we want to go. Keep those tutus sparkling!

Until next time, darlings! And don't forget to check out my dazzling fashion finds on the Pink-Tutu online shop!
