Pink Tutu Time Travel: August 2017 - A Month of Fierce Fashion and Fabulous Shows!

Dearest readers,

Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where we dive into the dazzling world of drag history! This is Emma (you might know me as the pink tutu-wearing, time-travelling queen!), and today we’re turning the calendar to August 2017. I hope you're ready for a whirl through the world of fabulousness, because this month is absolutely packed with incredible stories of drag!

Post Number 1172: Pink-tutu.com

As you all know, my magical time-travelling pink tutu is my ticket to experiencing drag throughout the ages, and this month, darling, let's just say, my tutu was a little tighter than usual from all the incredible shows I saw! August 2017, you were just bursting with iconic drag moments, from the rise of a new generation of stars to some legendary comebacks, you really knew how to slay.

So, let's grab our popcorn and get comfortable!

A Drag Queen's Diary: August 2017

The Big Drag Story: Season 9 of RuPaul’s Drag Race

August marked the start of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 9. This season was, like, legendary - we had queens like Sasha Velour (a real favourite of mine with that stunning theatrical style!), Valentina with her perfect Spanish Fantasy, and Peppermint, who had the whole world chanting "Peppermint! Peppermint!" This season showed how the art of drag was growing and evolving in fantastic ways. These queens, like, totally knew how to use the drag queen magic.

New York, New York! The Miss Fame Debut

But the magic didn't just live in Los Angeles. Right across the country in New York, one Miss Fame was strutting her stuff with her debut album! Her blend of fierce glamour and high fashion artistry had us all saying, "Miss Fame, you've truly gone and served!" That girl really knows how to be fabulous - if you're after a high fashion, fierce drag look, she is the Queen for you!

Beyond the Screen: Drag On The Street

And don't forget the power of street drag! From the vibrant energy of NYC drag balls to the heart-stopping glamour of UK club nights, drag queens everywhere were expressing themselves in bold and beautiful ways. Drag is, like, so much more than what we see on TV, darling - it's a global phenomenon. It's a way of life, a source of strength, and a beautiful form of self-expression, and in August 2017, it was a celebration!

Time Travel Snapshots

Here’s a few glimpses into the time travel fun I had, and the moments that got my tutu twirling in pure drag ecstasy:

  • Drag Con: The Big One in New York City

Can we talk about this amazing drag spectacle, ladies?! Drag Con was like stepping into a giant drag ball – hundreds of queens, fashion, and fun – everything drag! It was one of those “Pinch-me moments” – I saw everything from Drag Race stars and drag icon, Divine, in her full fabulous glory. The entire time, I just kept saying "It's true! It's truly happening! This is my dream come true!" And yes, I snagged myself a few amazing new *Drag Race t-shirts – I love my little Drag Race collection – every one has a special story to tell me!*

  • A Visit To My Home Town:

In Derbyshire, where I'm from, the local scene was alive and kicking too! Even a quiet town like this one had vibrant drag nights with all kinds of queens! We were celebrating the unique style and sass of our very own local stars! That’s what makes drag so incredible – you don’t have to be in a big city to feel the power of the drag experience.

  • Shopping, Shopping, Shopping

Every good time traveler has to indulge in a bit of fashion fun! Now, this was pre online shopping. So, a big old trip into the centre of London was totally the way to shop for everything pink and pretty.

The moment I saw that glorious, hot-pink sequined leotard in a window, well...let’s just say my credit card took a little trip. It’s a real showstopper - you’ll be seeing it in some upcoming performances, for sure! I’ve been on the hunt for some real statement headpieces to wear, too. (Do any of you lovely readers have any hot-tips for where to find a show-stopping hat?! Drop me a line at This email address is being protected from spambots. More Than Just Drag: Spreading the Pink Tutu Love

While I'm always in search of that perfect pink tutu and a good time, I want to remind everyone that this is more than just a fashion blog – it's about self-expression, celebrating individuality, and spreading love and kindness!

*Every month I perform in some beautiful venues, to help pay for my time traveling – so do you want to help? Come along to see the next show, it’s going to be absolutely spectacular!

Now go get out there, get fierce, and never be afraid to express your inner fabulous self! Don’t forget to share your drag stories and tips with me. And remember, no matter where you are or what you look like, a little pink tutu can go a long way.

Lots of love and glittery hugs, Emma xxx
