Pink Tutu Time Travels: 11.11.17: A Glitter-Filled Whirlwind! 💖✨

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu-clad time traveller, back with another exhilarating journey through drag history! This month, I've swirled through the time vortex in my fabulous pink tutu and landed smack-dab in the middle of November 11th, 2017, and oh honey, let me tell you, the world of drag was buzzing!

This is post number 1175 for my www.pink-tutu.com blog - if you're just joining me, welcome to the most glamorous time travel adventure you'll ever find! As always, my time travels are fuelled by the power of your generous tips after my shows - you love my pink tutus and I love your fabulous energy!

Drag Divas - Take Note: This post is dedicated to my fabulous girlies all over the world! No matter your chosen art form, be it theatrical extravaganzas or sassy street performances, you are all shining bright lights! My aim in life, my lovelies, is to get the entire world in a pink tutu! Let's celebrate the beautiful art form that is drag!

So let's get started, darling, because November 11th, 2017 was a hot mess of pure drag-tastic wonder!

The London Scene: Where The Glam Was Untamed

First stop, London! The heart of drag in the UK was beating with a vibrant energy this day. From the iconic Royal Vauxhall Tavern, a venue where legends are born, to the buzzing atmosphere of The Black Cap, a haven for both seasoned performers and those new to the stage - London was abuzz! The energy of these venues is infectious and was, without doubt, what inspired my love for all things drag!

I, of course, was on a mission to witness some truly iconic drag artists perform. Let me tell you, those ladies weren’t just wearing makeup, they were serving up looks! I caught Miss Fame slaying it at the RVT and The Vivienne, one of my absolute fave UK queens, rocking the mic at the Black Cap. Now THAT is what I call drag royalty!

Beyond London: The Global Glitter

My pink tutu transported me further afield, taking me on a worldwide drag tour. RuPaul's Drag Race had reached its 9th season, the queens were fierce, the looks were extravagant, and the drama was unreal! I was glued to the screen, feeling the competition, the tension, and, above all, the camaraderie amongst those magnificent divas! This season, for me, was all about Peppermint's iconic “What The Fuck” dance. Let me tell you, that performance was sheer talent and energy in one fabulous package!

On the other side of the world, Sydney was exploding with a drag scene of its own. There was so much talent to be seen in clubs, bars, and theaters across the city. The iconic "Divine" of course was in their 4th year on the Sydney drag scene, and darling, their energy and passion are out of this world! They've become a symbol of fierce performance, a vision of drag done with wit and humour. I was mesmerised, watching this vibrant artist from the sidelines. She's an inspiration, you see, an absolute role model!

This is a global scene, my dears. We’re talking drag from Tokyo to Sao Paolo!

Pink Tutu Thoughts

November 11th, 2017 was a beautiful glimpse into the ever-evolving world of drag. Drag queens everywhere are pushing boundaries, breaking barriers, and spreading messages of empowerment and acceptance. You know, for all the glam and the glitter, it’s more than just a fashion show; drag is an art form that demands expression, a celebration of individuality, and an opportunity to challenge societal norms!

That is what truly resonates with me! I’m all for expressing yourself with pride and pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone! That's why I adore the ever-growing movement of drag performers and enthusiasts everywhere - the diversity, the joy, the raw, real, unapologetic expression of self. Every day is a drag spectacular waiting to unfold!

*Now I gotta fly, darling, a new pink tutu beckons and I have another drag history story to uncover! *

Until next month, don't forget to spread some pink tutu magic! ✨💖

Stay fabulous!

Emma 💖
