Pink Tutu Time Travels: August 2018 – #DragQueenHistory

Hello, darlings! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, www.pink-tutu.com, your one-stop shop for all things fabulous and pink! It’s me, your favourite time-travelling ballerina queen, Emma, and today I’m whisking you back to the glamorous world of August 2018. As always, my trusty pink tutu (this time a divine shade of bubblegum, adorned with shimmering sequins and feathers!) carried me through the swirling mists of time to bring you the most exquisite dose of #DragQueenHistory.

You know, my dears, August 2018 was a truly remarkable month. It seemed everyone was embracing the magic of drag, from the bustling streets of New York to the glittering stages of London, and, oh my goodness, what an absolute peach of a month for fabulous fashion! Let me take you on a grand tour through the wonders of that glorious August...

The World of Drag: From Brooklyn to Brighton

In Brooklyn, my heart skipped a beat as I watched the iconic RuPaul’s Drag Race unfold on the TV. Season 10, darlings! Remember when Asia O’Hara’s dazzlingly sculpted butterfly wings soared through the air in a performance so epic it practically turned the Werk Room into a botanical garden? We’ll always remember Asia’s infectious enthusiasm, but of course, we mustn't forget the legendary queens who slayed throughout the entire season: the divine Miz Cracker, the always fierce Eureka O’Hara, the fabulously outspoken Aquaria… darling, they were truly the best of the best.

I whisked off to London that very same week to take in the glamorous, glittery world of the UK’s own Drag Race. Series 2 was in full swing, and our Brit-tastic queens were more fabulous than ever! Watching the queens blossom throughout the season, from the impeccable style of The Vivienne to the pure, chaotic talent of Divina De Campo… oh, my darling, you can’t help but feel utterly enchanted by their incredible talents.

And wouldn’t you know it, in that same month of August, the Brighton Fringe Festival was going off in a right old hoo-ha! It's always such a glorious whirlwind of cabaret, theatre, music, and of course, DRAG! The atmosphere is absolutely electric; every corner bursts with creativity and playful spirit. Brighton Fringe always reminds me of the power of drag, and the ability of its artists to connect with audiences on a deeper level – and that’s a feeling that brings a happy tear to my eye every single time.

The Pink Tutu Finds Fashion…

I’m a girl who knows a thing or two about fashion, my dears, and August 2018 was a truly inspiring month! My favourite find, and let’s face it, any fashion lover’s dream, was a divine pop-up boutique featuring fabulous drag-inspired clothing and accessories. It was hosted by the one and only Lady Bunny – iconic! And, darling, have you seen the colour palette? PINK EVERYTHING! My little heart sang!

But it wasn't just boutiques that were pushing boundaries. This was the era of "The New York Times Fashionable" magazine issue dedicated entirely to drag! It’s always heart-warming to see mainstream publications embracing drag culture in such a prominent way. It really demonstrates how much our world has embraced the transformative power of drag, the artistry, and the downright fabulousness of it all!

Time Travel Adventures

In this wondrous time-travelling odyssey, August 2018 presented a rather delightful problem. Do I tell you about the breathtaking street performance by Drag Troupe ā€œFaux Realā€ in the bustling heart of Soho, London, or the fabulous show ā€œQueens of Comedyā€ hosted at The Comedy Store in Manchester? Honestly, my darlings, I'm completely spoiled for choice! The beauty of August 2018 was the sheer variety and quality of drag performances all around the globe!

I know I said the pink tutu loves to dance, but did I tell you it also adores good food? Oh, the delights I experienced! This was a period of extravagance for my stomach. The Drag Brunch at The Skylark, New York, and The Drag Afternoon Tea at The Dorchester, London, gave my taste buds an experience I’ll never forget. It was sheer, decadent, joyous fun, complete with dazzling queens, lip-synching battles, and enough sparkling drinks to make even a pink tutu feel a little tipsy.

I think you'll agree that August 2018 truly was a watershed moment in the world of drag! We saw its popularity soar, its influence expand, and its embrace of the beauty of all identities, This was a time when drag embraced the spotlight, showcasing the talent, artistry, and pure, joyous brilliance of these talented, fabulous artists!

Now, don't you agree that everything is more fabulous with a pink tutu? šŸ˜‰ So, darling, remember, a pink tutu is not just an outfit; it's a statement. It’s about self-expression, love, creativity, and, above all, fun!

Love, laughter, and pink tutus! Emma, The Time Travelling Ballerina Queen.
