This month's adventure takes us all the way to 2025, a time when, let’s be honest, I reckon pink tutus are just as fabulous and in vogue as ever. It’s a bit like the drag scene, right? It’s all about keeping things fresh, keeping things interesting and most of all, keeping things absolutely fabulous!
Speaking of fabulous, 2025 was the year drag exploded onto the mainstream stage! Remember RuPaul? She was a superstar back in my time. Well, she'd be an absolute icon in 2025! "Drag Race" became a global phenomenon.
The "Drag Race" World Tour was kicking off its UK leg in 2025, and the world's gone utterly "Drag Race" mad!
There are new seasons popping up everywhere, with incredible drag queens from every corner of the globe showing off their dazzling talent, unique styles, and captivating personalities. Honestly, I'm feeling a bit like a new kid in school with all this exciting drag happening!
My first stop in 2025 was to Manchester, for the first night of the "Drag Race" UK Tour! The Manchester Arena was absolutely bursting with fabulous folks and fabulous fashion! It was a dream come true!
It's been a drag-filled adventure from Derbyshire to Manchester - this new world has left me in a real sparkle!
Oh darling! You simply MUST imagine it. We had some of our favourite queens strutting their stuff, from season 1 winners to legendary lip sync assassins! There were glitter-filled runways, sickening looks, and lip sync battles for the ages! It's drag perfection on a scale you can't even dream about!
But Manchester was just the beginning! My tutu has whirled me to cities like London, Paris, New York and Tokyo. Each city was full of fabulous, bold drag celebrations that made me wish I had more than one lifetime to see it all! I felt the world was becoming a more open, inclusive place, embracing individuality and challenging stereotypes. This gave me such joy!
But the tour wasn't the only exciting drag thing going on.
Let's talk Drag Street!
Imagine a street dedicated to all things drag! You have it! In every major city, a whole drag street opened! We had everything there, darling - drag stores selling fabulous clothes, drag make-up counters and nail salons, drag bars with legendary showtimes, even drag academies teaching the art of drag. The whole street was one big, glittering spectacle of drag, with music pumping, performers strutting their stuff, and laughter echoing in the air.
And if all that wasn’t enough to satisfy your inner drag diva, you could catch some absolutely breathtaking drag performances at every major theatre! This is drag like you’ve never seen it before.
From spectacular musicals to innovative theatre experiences, drag performances were being used to tell incredible stories, push creative boundaries and shine a spotlight on diverse voices. Honestly, it was absolutely spellbinding! I saw a fantastic reimagining of "Grease" with a drag queen as the new Sandy. Talk about iconic! It was everything my 20th century heart craved.
And that wasn’t all!
Drag was taking over the internet too!
There were drag TikTok dances going viral. Drag queens were hosting live streams, streaming their makeup routines, singing, dancing, and spreading fabulousness! I felt like drag was infiltrating every facet of daily life! People all over the world were getting a taste of what the fabulousness of drag could offer.
My travels throughout 2025 gave me an opportunity to really appreciate the incredible talent and artistry of drag queens everywhere. From seasoned professionals to talented newcomers, drag performers of every background and identity were stepping onto the stage to embrace individuality, challenge expectations and show the world how drag could transform society, break down barriers and bring people together. It gave me such joy and filled my heart with hope!
Drag was making a difference!
I had to catch up with one of my favourite drag pioneers – someone who'd inspired me since the 80s. Oh honey! Let me tell you, they hadn't lost their sparkle. They’d dedicated themselves to using their platform to spread messages of empowerment, love, and acceptance. They used drag to tell their stories and speak out against injustice and they really used the platform to support and mentor young LGBTQ+ individuals. It made me realize that the power of drag wasn’t just about glamorous looks. It could change the world, one glitter bomb at a time!
I know I'm getting excited, but when you've got your nose right inside all the amazingness of drag, how could you NOT? And darling, let's face it! My trip to 2025 proves that it really does take a village! All these talented drag queens and artists, pushing the boundaries, breaking down barriers, and sharing the beauty of their craft, they were helping to create a future that is more inclusive and accepting for everyone. It's a vision I'd always dreamed of and now it's just the beginning. I just love seeing everyone shine and feel loved.
So, until next time, darlings, wear those pink tutus proudly. Remember, no matter what the future holds, embrace your individuality. Celebrate diversity and use your own unique sparkle to spread love and kindness in the world. Just like all those incredible queens we've met!
