Hiya darlings! It's Emma here, your pink-tutu-wearing time traveller, back from another whirlwind adventure! You know me, I can't resist a bit of a whirl - and what better way to celebrate my birthday (November the 11th, mind you!) than with a dash to the future? So buckle up, lovelies, because this one's a corker!
2025: The Year of the Pink Tutu
Now, let me tell you, I landed right in the middle of London, and oh, the things I saw! Forget your dystopian future stories, darlings. 2025 is a shimmering, fabulous utopia! Everyone was decked out in the most incredible ensembles! Think sequins, feathers, and a sprinkle of glitter (and did I mention, pink?) everywhere I looked. I swear, my time travel tutu was just blending in.
The first thing I noticed, besides the fantastically fabulous fashion, was that drag queens were absolutely EVERYWHERE. On the tube, at the markets, even in the House of Parliament - I'm not even kidding! Everyone seemed to be celebrating drag in every aspect of life, which, if I do say so myself, is exactly what the world needs! I'm telling you, it was all so fabulously diverse, with queens of all colours, shapes, sizes, and identities showing their fabulousness.
The Queen of all Queens: Queen Latifah
Now, while I'm all for individuality, there was one queen who was ruling the roost. The one and only Queen Latifah! Not just the rapper, singer, and actress, darlings, she's also an internationally celebrated drag superstar. This woman was truly a sight to behold - a towering vision of pink sequins, towering headdresses, and a powerful voice that could shake the very foundations of the House of Commons. The sheer number of drag queens following her every move was astounding, and I truly felt like I'd stepped into a magical drag-filled utopia!
My Trip to the Drag-tastic Theatre
I wasn't about to just watch from the sidelines, darling. You know me! My little time travel tutu has a mind of its own when it comes to a good performance! So off I went to the London Palladium - yes, the Palladium! - for a Drag Idol: The Time Travellers Edition" gala, a competition that brings drag queens from across history to battle it out for the grand prize - a pink tutu-themed travel voucher!
I was truly blown away! Queens from all eras, from Victorian Vaudeville to 80s disco queens, came out in their pink-tutu glory and gave the audience performances to remember. From incredible lip-syncing, hilarious skits, and breath-taking ballads, I nearly fell out of my seat with glee. I even spotted a fellow tutu-wearing queen from 1920s Berlin - we did a little shimmy together backstage. It's all about supporting each other, right?
But There Was More to See...
Of course, drag wasn't the only thing happening in 2025! The shopping! Oh, my sweet dear, the shopping was phenomenal. They had shops dedicated solely to pink tutus (and believe me, they were in abundance), with an amazing variety of lengths, colours, and designs. My new time travel tutu is even made from some kind of futuristic eco-friendly pink sparkle material that I simply had to try!
And the food! I sampled some delicious futuristic delights - think vegan cheese that tastes like real cheese, gluten-free cakes with the best texture ever, and coffee that literally tasted like the morning sunrise! I think it was brewed with starlight.
But most of all, I felt such a sense of community. Everyone, from drag queens to politicians, seemed to be embracing diversity and kindness. Even the grumpy old gent I saw on the bus was sporting a pink tutu, although he insisted it was a "lucky" hat.
Embracing Pink, Embracing Change
So what did I learn from my journey to 2025? First, the power of pink is undeniable - it's the colour of fun, joy, and embracing life. It truly is the colour of the future. Second, the power of drag has no boundaries! It’s a celebration of individuality, and it seems the world finally gets it. Third, the future holds a lot of hope.
As I slip back into my own time, I’m bursting with ideas and inspiration. The drag scene in Derbyshire is still small, but we’re growing every day. My aim, of course, is to get every single person in the whole world wearing a pink tutu. And let’s face it, with a bit of pink power, I think I can do it.
So until next month, darlings! Keep shining and remember, every day is an opportunity to embrace a little more pink!
Stay fab, Emma
