Pink-tutu.com: Post Number 1273 – A Whirl Through History in Pink Tutu!

Darling, gather round! It’s Emma here, your resident time-travelling, pink-tutu clad ballerina! Ready for another whirlwind adventure through the glorious history of drag? Well buckle your sequined shoes and grab your feather boas because this month we’re twirling back to… January 2026! (The time machine, which doubles as my custom-made pink tutu, is currently warming up, if you’re wondering…)

Before we leap, let’s rewind and acknowledge how fabulous 2026 is turning out to be for the drag scene, darling! The world is literally a rainbow runway with international shows popping up everywhere from Tokyo to Trinidad. This past December saw the inaugural ā€˜Miss Global Drag Universe’ competition held in Dubai with… gasps… an amazing array of cultural fusion fashion, darling! Imagine, traditional Emirati attire paired with sequins and fishnets! The audacity, the art!

We’re also witnessing the rise of the ā€œDrag Circusā€ in Paris, where death-defying acrobatics, breathtaking makeup looks, and hilarious comedy meet! And I, of course, wouldn't miss a single one of these performances! I mean, can you picture the selfies I get, especially the one with the French drag clown performing the human cannonball? My Instagram feed is just brimming with fabulousness, my darlings!

Oh! Don’t even get me started on the fabulous makeup and fashion trends this season! Neo-Glam is all the rage, darling. Think bright neon colors, sculpted contour, and hair sculpted like clouds! A symphony of artistry on every face! It's almost enough to make me miss my good ol' Derbsyhire, but… I still think pink is the ultimate colour, darling!

2026: A Dance Through The Decades

Okay, time to crank up the time machine! January 2026 is going to be divine, my dears. Remember Miss Coco Peru, a legendary New York drag queen, beloved for her hilarious characters, sharp wit, and unforgettable shows? We're going to see her in a double-header performance in Berlin! She's known for using drag to explore social satire, giving us insights into the world of theatre and entertainment with biting humor, and I, for one, can't wait to be swept away by her wit and performance!

Speaking of legendary icons, remember Divine, a larger-than-life star known for her groundbreaking film and drag performances in the 1970s? Imagine my absolute shock when I spotted her this month doing a "comeback performance" in…wait for it…the metaverse, darlings! A 3D holographic show with a whole* new generation discovering her outrageous performances and daring looks!

The world is definitely embracing drag in exciting, groundbreaking ways, isn’t it, darling? This reminds me to remind you again - a pink tutu can take you anywhere, darling! I know some of you are just getting into the whole ā€œdrag is a great art formā€ vibe. So let me share this little secret… I started by watching YouTube, finding drag shows in Derbyshire and even did some online shopping to build my look. Everyone has to start somewhere!

While we’re on the topic of youtube, this month there's this online drag-makeup masterclass on youtube with… (drum roll!) The legendary Bianca Del Rio! She’s going to spill the secrets behind her signature "tough but beautiful" drag look. Now that’s what I call Drag-ducation! (Don’t forget to check out my online Drag Makeup 101 sessions – you can find them at www.pink-tutu.com - wink, wink).

So this month we’re embracing a bit of ā€˜Neo-Glam’ darling, with a dash of 1970s drag inspiration (think a splash of Divines' outrageous outfits with a touch of contemporary glitz). But of course, every look, as you all know, is just perfectly elevated with my trusty, time-travelling pink tutu. It’s my go-to, darling!

As always, my lovely viewers, stay fabulous!

Lots of Love,

Emma x
