Hello darlings, itâs your favourite pink-loving tutu-wearing time traveller Emma here, and itâs time for a brand new adventure! As you know, this is post number 1280 of my fabulous time travelling blog, here on www.pink-tutu.com, a blog dedicated to sharing the glorious history of drag. And oh, this month, my darlings, the stories are simply divine!
Itâs August 2026, and the world of drag is simply bursting with fabulousness! You wouldnât believe what Iâve discovered on my time travel adventures this month - but I wouldnât dream of keeping it from you lovely lot. So, gather round, grab yourselves a nice cuppa and some biscuits (we all know how drag queens love their biscuits!) and letâs delve into the fascinating history of drag in August 2026!
But before we embark on our grand tour, letâs get back to basics - me! For those who are new here (welcome!), Iâm Emma, a 20-something drag queen hailing from Derbyshire, a little slice of paradise in the UK. You could say I have a passion for all things fabulous - that includes drag, obviously, as well as the colour pink (donât even get me started on my glorious pink tutu!), and the exquisite art of ballet fashion. I get around with my very own magical, time-travelling pink tutu - you wouldn't believe where it's taken me. Itâs truly a sight to behold! I fund all my grand time travel expeditions by performing at some of the most fantastic drag shows across the land - a real whirlwind of glitter and glam!
Right, enough about me - letâs get to the exciting part! Whatâs happening in the wonderful world of drag in August 2026? Let me tell you, itâs quite the whirlwind!
Firstly, let's pop over to New York City, shall we? This month, they're celebrating the 25th anniversary of the groundbreaking "Drag Race" season, the very first to feature a truly global cast! You can just imagine the sequins and drama - it was truly a landmark season and the legacy is undeniable. They are having special events and celebrations, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are even having special re-runs of the iconic episodes on the iconic Drag Race Channel (which I believe is on every screen and device in the world these days - it's absolutely brilliant!).
But, we canât just be stuck in America, darlings! Now, let's whisk ourselves away to Sydney, Australia! Imagine the scene - stunning weather, the glistening ocean, the iconic Opera House (such fabulous architecture!), and what's that? Oh, my, itâs the âDrag Extravaganza Down Underâ, a drag show which has become the flagship event for the Sydney Drag scene! Think incredible drag performers showcasing the most innovative and inventive costumes, dancing their hearts out on a stage set as elaborate as an Aussie bush symphony!
Now, back in the UK, where else would we be but in the great city of London? Now, if you haven't visited the iconic âPink Tutu Theatreâ - a show I proudly say helped fund a few of my own time-travel adventures! Well, you're missing out! They're having a special month long celebration dedicated to drag history with shows ranging from 'A Drag Through Timeâ - which you know I'll be checking out!
I know you might think that all of this exciting history just involves the grand stages of the world - and yes, it's incredible. But, darling, the streets are alive with drag too!
From Londonâs vibrant street performances â weâre talking vibrant make-up, jaw-dropping outfits, and the best drag ballads, sung with such heart and soul you'll have tears streaming down your face (I cry a lot during a good show â I won't lie! Itâs a way of showing I really care!)!
Thereâs the âDrag Queen Fashion Fairâ - oh, darling! â you can just imagine all of that deliciousness: endless rows of drag outfits (of course, with a pink-themed section!) the latest trends, stunning artistry from up-and-coming drag makeup artists, and âŚwait for it ⌠the unveiling of the âPink Tutu Fashion Awardsâ, honouring the best dressed Drag queens in history, the latest talent, and the fabulousness of drag!
Of course, no discussion on Drag history can ignore the brilliant online movement, where drag is becoming ever more accessible through social media. There are incredible drag tutorials, documentaries about amazing pioneers, the phenomenon that is âDrag Queen Bingoâ where queens across the globe have set up communities using bingo as a fun drag themed way to connect with their fans, drag performances on Twitch - everything you can possibly think of is available in a click.
But all this fantastic history begs one question: Why, you might ask, should anyone care about this particular month? Itâs the time when âPink Tutu Tuesdayâ is celebrated â an idea which, much to my joy, is spreading like wildfire throughout the globe! Every Tuesday in August, you can find people - drag queens and everyday folks alike! - proudly sporting their pink tutus, be it a fluffy feather-adorned tutu, or a sleek, simple classic, a pink tutu has been the key item on almost every drag outfit in this month and I just love it.
Why all the excitement, you ask? Well, as everyone knows, Iâm a bit obsessed with tutus. But more importantly, this celebration embodies something incredible: the spirit of joy, individuality and self-expression!
If you are reading this dear readers, I urge you to give âPink Tutu Tuesdayâ a whirl! Embrace the spirit of joy! Be you! You never know, you may end up joining the next âPink Tutu Tuesdayâ march or even become one of those amazing queens winning the âPink Tutu Fashion Awardsâ. Or maybe, just maybe, youâll discover the magical time traveling powers of the pink tutuâŚ
Either way, remember, darling, the future is pink and tutu-ful!
Until next time, stay fabulous, and Iâll be seeing you in the blogosphere, or perhaps on the next Pink Tutu Tuesday!
Yours always in drag and sparkle, Emma x
