Hello my darling divas and dapper dudes! It's Emma here, your favourite Derbyshire drag queen extraordinaire, bringing you another juicy dose of history from the fabulous time-traveling depths of my sparkly, pink tutu! As you know, I adore everything pink and twirly - from the extravagant feather boas of the Golden Age to the shimmering sequin dresses of today - so naturally, time travel is a must in my life.
Today, my dear readers, we're venturing to the 7th of July, 2032! I'm grabbing my vintage handbag (don't forget, darlings, every outfit needs the perfect accessory!) and hopping into my magical time-traveling pink tutu. I can practically hear the glitter and the music from here!
What's Happening In the Drag Universe in July 2032?July 2032 is a particularly exciting time in the drag world! The international Drag Championships are taking place in Seoul, South Korea, with competitors from all corners of the globe vying for the crown. Imagine, darlings, the level of glamour and talent! The theme? āRainbow Rebellionā! Talk about a powerful message. I can just imagine the looks! Feathers, sequins, and oh, the fabulous makeup!
Over in New York, the legendary House of Glam is hosting their annual "Drag & Dine" charity event, a night of stunning performances and culinary delights that benefits a local arts program for underprivileged youth.
Meanwhile, here in London, a new musical is premiering - "Queen's Gambit," a dazzling exploration of the history of drag from the Victorian era to the present day. I must make a booking, darlings. Just imagine the costumes, the music, the drama!
And whatās on at my local theatre in Chesterfield, Derbyshire? The delightful Drag Extravaganza at the Chesterfield Spa Theatre. A showcase of some of Derbyshire's finest drag queens, singers, and dancers. What a night to be had!
But for me, the best part of time travel isn't just seeing the shows. It's the behind-the-scenes glimpses, the historical moments that are often hidden in the archives. So let me take you on a whirlwind journey, right back to 7th July, 2032!
Fashion Flashback: Whatās Trending In July 2032?You know me, darlings. My eyes are always peeled for the latest trends, the hottest fashion finds. In 2032, drag fashion is going full-on eco-friendly and ethical, a beautiful thing. Think upcycled fabrics, vintage couture, and sustainable materials. There's a huge emphasis on craftsmanship and individuality, which I absolutely love.
I noticed a beautiful trend in neon fabrics with metallic finishes that just POP on stage. Think bright lime green bodices with silver sequined leggings - the kind of thing that gets the crowd buzzing with excitement. And the headpieces! Absolutely out of this world. Hats, fascinators, crowns, wings... nothing was off-limits in 2032!
One of my favourite discoveries was a shop called āSecond Chance Coutureā in Manchester, a drag queen-owned store brimming with unique and eco-conscious clothing. Their motto? āDonāt trash the fashion, refashion the trash!ā Talk about making a statement.
The energy of the street style scene in 2032 is wild! Drag queens were no longer confined to the stage. They owned the streets! The city was their runway, and it was glorious! There's something so refreshing about seeing drag become so mainstream, but still retain that fierce and empowering spirit.
A Blast from the Past: The Glitter is Back!A little historical fun for you. July 2032 saw the resurgence of something dear to my heart: Glitter! It had gone through a brief hiatus a couple of decades earlier. They were all about matte lips and monochrome makeup looks, darling. Oh, the tragedy!
But 2032 saw the return of the sparkle! Glittery eyeshadow, glittering body glitter, and shimmery blush! Thank goodness, because nothing screams fabulous quite like glitter, do you agree? It's a visual feast for the eyes, and I canāt wait to see how future generations will embrace this glorious tradition!
What Makes Me SmileWhat I love about traveling through time is the constant reminders that the world is full of talented, unique, and daring people. Drag has always been a place where anyone, regardless of age, gender, or background, could express their true self. It's a reminder to embrace diversity and always push the boundaries of what's considered 'normal'.
This little time trip gave me even more inspiration to put together a spectacular new show. Imagine, darlings, the stories I have to share! The fabulous costumes, the dazzling performances, the historical anecdotes. This journey will definitely find its way into my next act!
But now, my lovelies, Iāve got to dash! My tutu is itching to take me to a show in the Year 3000, where I hear the makeup looks are truly mind-blowing. Remember to join me next month for another time-traveling adventure!
