Pink Tutu Time Travels: 2032! 💅💖🩰 (Post #1354)

Helloooo darlings! Emma here, back from another spectacular adventure in time, and my pink tutu has definitely seen some things! Buckle up, because today we're zipping to the year 2032 – a whole decade from now, can you believe it?! It’s all happening so fast, I need more sequins in my life to handle this pace! ✨

Now, as I mentioned in last month’s blog post, I was inspired to visit this particular year by the resurgence of interest in the “original” drag ball, back in the 70s and 80s. And guess what, the 2030s is apparently all about remembering those golden ages! They’ve even got drag balls where they play disco music and wear vintage fashions…talk about a flashback to my grandmother’s favourite era! 😅

I must say, the fashions were surprisingly...retro! So much pastel, so much ruched tulle – oh darling, I almost thought I’d travelled back to the 80s by accident! 🤣 But honestly, I love it. There was this amazing ballroom queen I saw, she had a silver wig that would have made Dolly Parton weep with joy, a body-hugging sparkly dress in a glorious turquoise, and these giant, poofy, pink (of course!) feather boa arms! It was fabulous!

Speaking of boas, my time travelling pink tutu decided to visit a drag show at this awesome club called “The Stardust Disco Ball” - talk about a name that’s just dripping with drag history! This was just the kind of club my heart was hankering for. Glittery lights, disco beats blasting, and an incredible lineup of drag queens, all rocking the vintage looks!

I met this lovely queen, Athena Aphrodite, who gave me all the insider tea on drag history in 2032. Apparently, there's a real love for the old school and vintage vibes, with some young queens doing incredible tribute acts. I even saw a whole set of queens inspired by 90s girl bands! They slayed those Spice Girls renditions, let me tell you! I might have shed a single tear of pure drag joy - it was all just so perfectly camp.

And let’s not forget the makeup! Honestly, these girls know how to blend a smokey eye, and the contouring, well… darling, let’s just say they weren't afraid of a bit of "too much." They brought that glam in full force and I lived for it! 😍 They reminded me of those classic drag queen icons who redefined beauty with their fierce, avant-garde styles.

But wait, there’s more! In this 2032 drag scene, they’ve got an emphasis on “inclusive drag” – it’s really quite something to see how things have evolved! We saw all sorts of performers from diverse backgrounds, celebrating individuality and defying norms, making sure everyone could shine in their own unique way. This was a space of love and acceptance, and it made my heart sing.

Now, talking about singing, I had to experience a bit of the cabaret scene, right? I popped into this wonderful little vintage theatre called the “Cosmic Ballroom.” They even had real velvet seats! I sat right at the front with the rest of the “real drag ladies,” you know the ones with decades of fabulousness oozing from their pores. They had a fantastic tribute show going on, all about the big names from the early drag scene – a drag show celebrating the giants on whose shoulders we stand.

A highlight was this stunning queen called La'Diva Diamond, with a jaw-dropping impersonation of Divine! This queen was everything Divine ever was and more! It brought me back to the campy charm, the wit, the boldness of those legendary drag performers – a reminder of the important place drag plays in our history and our culture. And let’s not forget those fabulous costuming choices - we’re talking feathers, sparkles, a lot of bright pink! 😂 They certainly weren’t shy about the dramatic, and that’s just what I love.

Of course, a trip to 2032 wouldn't be complete without a touch of high fashion and a little shopping spree, so I had to hit the latest high-end drag store: “The Drag Closet” – basically a drag fashion dream! I went wild, honey! And darling, I bought everything - I practically stole the whole stock! 👠✨

They had incredible collections from famous drag designers who'd managed to reimagine the old drag styles while keeping them current. This queen told me there was even a collection based on my famous pink tutu! The things I do to inspire, I’m telling you, my heart can’t take it! ❤️💖 (Not to mention my pockets were also feeling the strain, so thank goodness for all the gigs and donations from you lovely folks! wink wink You keep those funds flowing for future pink-tutu time travel expeditions!).

Well, my darlings, as I have to return to the future now – gotta get back to planning my next amazing drag adventure! So if you haven’t already, jump over to the "Pink Tutu Time Travels" archive, there are hundreds of past journeys to inspire your next amazing drag outfit.

And remember, you can do anything in a pink tutu! Let’s spread the love of sequins and camp fashion far and wide! 💋

Love always, Emma ✨💖🩰 www.pink-tutu.com
