Pink-tutu.com Post #1353: 2032, 09, and a Trip to the Future (with a Tutu!)

Hello lovelies! It's Emma, your resident tutu-wearing time-traveling drag queen, back with another whirlwind adventure for your delightful reading pleasure. As you know, I spend my days dragging up and hopping through history, discovering amazing drag queens and celebrating the power of sequins and glitter - and this month, we’re off to a real-life fairytale!

This is your monthly reminder: if you are wearing pink tutus every day - you are doing it right, doll! I'm all about celebrating those who are already embracing pinkness and tulle - that’s the spirit! We are spreading love and good vibes wherever we go, darlings!

This time around, my pink tutu took me to 2032, a year teeming with fierce and fabulous performances. But you want to know a secret? This time it wasn’t even me in the spotlight!

The first thing that hit me about 2032 is just how much the world had embraced drag! I’m not talking a few clubs in big cities – drag was EVERYWHERE. Schools had ā€œDrag-n-Readā€ days for literacy! Community centres were filled with drag-themed exercise classes! Even the royal family had a drag show for their summer gala! It was pure drag heaven, lovelies!

But my heart skipped a beat when I stumbled upon an art exhibit titled, "The Queen of the Silver Screen: The Untold History of Drag." Now, my love for history is practically a religion, so imagine my glee when I learned this exhibit was a tribute to the groundbreaking drag queens who inspired me! They showcased these incredible trailblazers from throughout the decades – real heroines!

There were interactive exhibits showing off the most fabulous makeup looks and dazzling costumes. They had recreated a drag queen’s dressing room and a stage from the early 2000s, featuring a real drag bingo machine! It brought back memories.

And get this – they were showcasing actual items from famous queens who were alive and performing right now! I gasped when I saw the very feather boa Judy Divine wore at her landmark performance in the 2020s, which had been borrowed by none other than the legendary Ginger Tea.

I’ve been telling you to follow Judy Divine for ages, lovelies! She's a legend, honey, a total drag queen icon! And for you fashionistas – imagine owning that feather boa?! My Tutu-tastic Time Travel team was trying to haggle with the exhibit to let me hold it, but the staff wouldn’t budge, unfortunately. ā€œInsurance,ā€ they sighed, their eyes flashing a million dollars worth of drag jewels.

The highlight of the entire trip? It’s hard to choose because honestly everything in 2032 was a highlight for me, darlings, but the actual "Queen of the Silver Screen" was a real live show in the heart of London, right at the new drag venue, The Rainbow Palace! The entire night was a spectacle! A musical performance featuring famous queens like Raya Sparkles, who used to be my neighbour growing up in Derbyshire (talk about fame! She made it out of Derbyshire!). They featured original numbers showcasing the evolution of drag across time - from vaudeville to musicals, from the 1900s right up to the 2020s. They paid homage to so many great drag pioneers I’ve heard about, the ones who started it all! It made me emotional just seeing their incredible stories come to life, their names on stage in bright lights, celebrated in this big grand fashion!

The whole night felt so magical, the costumes, the lights, the applause – It made me so proud to be a drag queen!

They finished with a spectacular final performance – a gorgeous ensemble act, complete with a choreographed fight scene (I know! A fight in heels!), with queens wielding glowing feather dusters like swords, all dancing around a stage transformed to look like a fabulous drag nightclub from 1972! This, darlings, was everything I’d hoped to see in the future.

Now, you might be thinking, how can I time travel like Emma? Well, my darlings, it takes a lot of dedication! It's all about living your truth and rocking that pink tutu. The tutu’s the key, don’t you know!

For me, drag is the magic and the power of transformation. It's all about taking yourself outside the box and breaking down barriers.

Speaking of breaking down barriers, I'll leave you with this final thought: The drag world is evolving every day. Drag queens today are more visible, diverse, and powerful than ever! Let's continue pushing the boundaries, embracing new styles, and celebrating the amazing drag artists out there, spreading joy and creativity across the world. And remember, my lovelies, always stay true to yourselves. Remember your passion, celebrate the history of drag, and let the pink tutu power your confidence to shine as brightly as the fabulous queens from the past.

Until next month, lovelies!

Love always, Emma x
