Pink Tutu Travels: 2038.03 – A Glimpse into the Future, Darling! (Post #1419)

Hello lovelies, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Travels! It's your girl Emma, back from a whirl-wind trip through time, and I'm absolutely buzzing to share my latest adventure with you all. This month, I popped my sparkly pink tutu into a little time machine and jetted myself to March of 2038. And let me tell you, my dears, it was an absolute riot!

As you know, my mission is to bring a sprinkle of pink tutu magic to every corner of the world and every moment in history. And oh, honey, the world of drag in 2038 was a glittering explosion of colours, creativity, and, of course, more pink tutus than you can shake a glitter wand at!

My first stop was Tokyo, the bustling, neon-lit, always-on capital of fabulous. It was like stepping into a real-life anime, complete with robot dancers, holographic projections, and a whole lot of glitz and glamour. The drag scene here was absolutely wild - think street performances that incorporated holograms, robot-themed drag shows with a dash of cyberpunk flair, and gorgeous kabuki-inspired looks that would make even a seasoned drag queen weep with joy. The drag queens were brilliant, showcasing the dazzling futurism that I have always believed Japan excels at.

Next, I popped over to the glorious and historical city of Rio de Janeiro. Now, let’s just say this: the samba scene here is phenomenal. But in 2038, it's been taken to a whole new level. The carnival here, dear readers, is simply breathtaking! Drag queens, adorned in feathers and sequins, danced their hearts out under the blazing sun. The sheer joy, the vibrancy, and the inclusivity – oh honey, I could feel it buzzing in my every fibre! You could feel the joy from each and every queen on stage, the joy in the crowd was infectious. You simply had to get on your feet, let the samba spirit carry you and twirl until you reached your personal limit.

After my time in Rio, I popped over to my hometown – good old Derbyshire, England! Now, let me tell you, you can’t forget about your roots! It’s good to remember where you come from, even if you're wearing a fabulous pink tutu and dancing in the future! My visit to Derbyshire took me to one of the most innovative and dynamic drag scenes in the world. Imagine this: underground, secret drag shows tucked away in cobbled alleys and abandoned pubs, a touch of gothic darkness mixed with the humour and sharp wit that is signature of drag in the UK. Oh, I felt right at home!

The highlight, however, was the newly launched ‘Derbyshire Drag Festival’. I’m not joking, a festival! This was a multi-day celebration of drag in all its glorious forms, from comedy drag shows, to avant-garde theatrical performance, to electrifying street performances. Derbyshire's drag queens had been busy creating stunning theatrical sets, showcasing intricate makeup, and most importantly having a good time with fellow queens and friends, It really put a spring in my step.

2038, as you can see, is buzzing with drag energy. But let’s move onto the world of fashion and fashion trends.

In 2038, fashion has truly evolved. In Japan, think avant-garde streetwear blended with cyber-punk - bright colors, holographic designs, metallic fabrics - and you’ll see it all at the front of the drag scene. In Rio, it’s all about incorporating the fabulous samba spirit into clothing - think bright and bold, sequin covered outfits that dance with every movement. There's still the incredible craftsmanship that brings these intricate and daring designs to life.

Derbyshire, on the other hand, showcased the gothic revival trend. Drag queens there had a penchant for leather jackets, boots with heavy heels, and of course the staple for a true drag performer: a striking red lip, bold brows and the power of contouring, a dark, smoldering makeup that truly stood out on stage. The creativity was so fabulous, the drag makeup so on-point, and I had to make a pit-stop to do some drag shopping on the way back.

*2038, it was fabulous and thrilling. *I’m delighted to share all these amazing discoveries with you.

My message is always the same: Be fabulous, embrace the extraordinary, and, most importantly, wear a pink tutu. I’ve got a big love of tutus, let’s face it, there is nothing more stylish and glamorous, a pink tutu always delivers on that iconic, timeless, dancey feel.

Catch you next month, my lovelies! And don't forget to subscribe to Pink Tutu Travels and let's continue to explore this wonderfully colourful world of drag.

**Yours always,

Emma.**
