Hello darlings! It's your favourite Derbyshire drag queen, Emma, back again with another post for www.pink-tutu.com. August 2038? You bet! The sequins are sparkling, the glitter is glowing, and this pink-loving queen is back with another blast from the past ā or shall I say, another trip to the future?
Letās face it, Iām obsessed with time travel. And this pink tutu certainly takes me places! Who wouldāve thought my grandma's vintage tutu had such magical powers, right? This month, my Tutu Time Machine took me to August 2038 ā a date chock-full of drag excitement, which, darling, was all I could ever wish for.
So, what did I find? Oh honey, the world of drag in 2038 was everything! The stage, the streets, the internet - drag was absolutely everywhere! It felt like a celebration of everything glamorous and flamboyant, a total explosion of fabulousness!
Drag on the StreetsFirstly, the street performers. They were amazing! It wasn't just about traditional lip-syncing routines anymore. They were blending dance, spoken word, and even interactive technology to create truly immersive performances. The makeup was stunning ā think holographic eyeshadow, metallic eyelashes, and shimmering body paint ā totally giving me cyberpunk drag goddess vibes. It was so refreshing and modern, not to mention how effortlessly they rocked the most fantastic custom outfits! My, my, these street performers were so good. They gave me such good ideas for my next performance, and thatās just one of the perks of time travel.
Digital Drag: The Virtual RunwaySpeaking of technology, darling, you've just got to see what's going on in the world of digital drag. They are creating whole digital universes, complete with drag queens living, breathing, and interacting within these virtual realities! Some drag queens were creating shows in a simulated reality, performing for thousands of fans across the world. Iām talking holograms and AR experiences - it was everything! You could even buy their digital drag fashion! There was a whole new marketplace, bursting with dazzling outfits, made specifically for these virtual stages. My favourite design was a giant pink tutu complete with glittering laser lights! It was just screaming "Emma!"
Live Shows: Still A Queen's KingdomDonāt worry darling, because, despite the tech, the real stages weren't dead in the slightest. The live shows were as popular as ever, but with a very modern twist. The audiences were even more diverse ā young, old, everyone was welcome! They even had these amazing āsensory-sensitiveā areas, specifically designed for audiences who need to have breaks during a show. The organisers truly put inclusivity first ā so considerate, don't you think? Theyāve even integrated signed performances, making drag truly accessible to everyone, which is something I fully support. The diversity of performances was dazzling ā from camp and comedic shows to stunning ballet-inspired routines ā every night there was something to please even the pickiest drag enthusiast (thatās me!). I particularly enjoyed the drag queens from London, who had incorporated the local ballet schools into their acts!
Back To The Real WorldComing back to 2023, Iām absolutely bursting with new ideas! This trip really inspired me. I canāt wait to put all those 2038 digital drag experiences to the test, maybe even incorporating some holographic visuals for my next performance.
Remember, darling, if you want to really understand whatās going on in drag, you have to look beyond the glitter. Thereās a powerful message within drag thatās worth listening to, something you must hear! It's all about finding your voice, being comfortable in your own skin, and challenging those social norms!
It's all about embracing our fabulousness, and being our authentic selves. That, darling, is what drag is truly all about. Itās something that should inspire everyone ā especially our next generation of drag queens.
So, as I sign off for now, make sure to wear that pink tutu with pride and keep that fabulousness flowing! See you in a month with more exciting adventures and fabulous experiences. Remember, www.pink-tutu.com is always open to new fans, and if you ever see a pink tutu swirling in the streets of Derbyshire ā you know itās me, darling, back in time from 2038, ready to inspire the next generation!
What is Happening on 08 August, 2038?As this blog has taken so long to write darling, the show must go on. For any eager beavers, Iām happy to share a little nugget from 2038 drag. Thereās this epic drag ball taking place in Berlin! I imagine it's the hottest drag event, complete with a theme. What was the theme, I wonder? The Great Pink Tutu Challenge perhaps? Now thereās an idea for a competition, darling, with an extra focus on that amazing ballet inspired drag. Oh, the possibilities are endless! I can just imagine the amazing performances they will create - think tutus with flashing neon lights! Or maybe giant feather boas that light up! It will be magical.
I bet the competition will include categories like: āBest Use of Sequinsā, āMost Fabulous Hairā, and āBest Overall Pink Tutuā, with everyone sporting the ultimate in ballerina drag style! I hope one day they make pink tutus compulsory on the planet ā even if they don't exist! I can dream, can't I darling?
Until next time!
